New  Book  on  Culturing  Live  Food  for  the  Aquarium

This  is  a  pretty  good  book,  and  I  was  going  to  get  this  for  myself.

I  have  ordered  a  few  copies  of  this  book  from  Amazon,  Nayak  and  Deepak  will  be  taking  two  copies,  I'll  have  one  copy  remaining.
Bangalore  only  cash  and  collect  the  last  copy  from  me  if  you  need  it.

This  was  the  result  of  the  discussion  today  at  the  ASK  meet.

Sorry,  couldn't  order  more  copies,  anyway,  there's  only  one  copy  in  stock  with  Amazon  after  my  order.  Very Happy

To  Culture  Live  Food  you  need  starter  Cultures  and  that  is  what  is  difficult  to  get...

At  one  time  in  Kolkatta  where  I  spend  most  of  my  youth  ...we  could  get  a  Daphania  at  10  paisa  enough  for  2  to  three  days  feed  for  the  fish..  now  I  have  come  to  know  that  it  is  very  difficult  to  get  Daphania  ...

So  if  you  have  access  to  starter  culture  for  live  food  ,this  book  is  a  great  resource...

 Regards

 Sujoy

The  author  is  a  friend  of  mine.  If  there  is  sufficient  interest,  we  can  think  of  a  group  buy  from  the  publisher.

Once  a  person  sets  his  mind  on  culturing  live  food,  starter  cultures  can  be  arranged,  it's  not  much  trouble  in  Bangalore  or  for  that  matter  Chennai.
There's  no  need  to  culture  all  the  70  or  90  live  foods  in  the  book,  do  what  you  need.

The  current  online  edition  of  TFH  has  a  couple  of  pages  from  the  book.  The  author  is  a  well  known  breeder  and  you  will  not  be  disappointed.
We  need  to  find  out  if  they  plan  for  a  paperback  edition.

I  haven't  lived  in  extreme  climates,  you  may  find  that  information  in  the  book.

Could  you  guys  give  me  a  small  suggestion  on  this  regard  Smile  -
A  culture[s]  that  would  be  easy  to  maintain{inside  home}  and  less  smelly,  one  thats  decent  for  feeding  baby-barbs.

 Thankyou  in  advance.

Careful  about  a  group  buy  from  publisher.  If  the  number  of  copies  exceed  a  certain  limit  (  need  to  check  with  Customs  rules  for  that  ),  you'll  end  up  paying  customs  duty.
Getting  in  books  by  courier  will  entail  duty  automatically  for  multiple  copies  beyond  a  certain  number.
Get  books  in  by  post  "only",  then  there  is  no  duty  subject  to  you  convincing  PAC  about  end  use.  Insure  the  shipment,  that  too  attracts  duty.

There  are  ways  around  the  customs  duty  -  a  letter  from  the  author,  saying  the  books  are  a  text  book  for  aquaculture  and  distribution  among  students  etc.,

I  used  the  "author's  letter"  method,  after  the  books  I  brought  in  bulk  by  DHL  for  IAH  members  got  stuck  at  Customs.

You  need  to  move  very  fast  in  case  there  is  trouble.

Sai,  all  the  info  you  need  is  in  TFH  digital,  this  link  has  a  couple  of  pages  from  the  book
 http://www.tfhdigital.com/tfh/200908/?pg=95&pm=2&u1=friend

I  have  e-mailed  TFH  publications  to  find  if  they  have  distributors  in  India.  I  will  post  if  I  get  a  reply.
