 hello  guys..
just  dont  get  too  carried  away  by  the  title  of  the  post   Chuckle
i  am  now  in  the  aquascaping  mood  (enough  of  this  cichlid  war  in  my  aquarium  Chuckle  )
having  said  that,i  want  some  cool  aquascaping  tips  from  you  guys
i  want  to  start  the  tank  from  scratch.thats  why  i  have  just  filled  up  the  substrate
and  put  some  stones  in  the  tank.i  am  attaching  a  picture  below.
now  what  i  have  in  my  mind  is  to  fill  up  the  foreground  and  the  mid  ground  with
tenellus  and  finally  the  background  with  hairgrass..
the  structure  i  have  made  with  the  stones..is  it  looking  all  right?
so  please  guys,i  am  waiting  for  your  useful  tips  so  that  i  can  start  doing  up  my
tank..advice  in  which  place  would  the  stones  look  more  gud..
should  i  place  the  stones  together  or  individually?
also  lastly,  what  i  have  in  mind  is  to  create  a  stream  like  look  with  white  substrate
just  ahead  of  the  small  stones  in  the  structure..
any  sort  of  ideas  or  suggestions  are  most  welcome..

 Hi,
These  rocks  are  looking  good,  why  dont  you  try  to  make  a  cave  in  between  these  rocks  with  PVC,  check  DIY  cave  for  aquarium  on  youtube.
If  you  don't  want  to  invest  on  CO2  equipment,  than  I  would  suggest  you  to  go  for  anubias  nana  and  just  dont  follow  any  ones  concept,  make  it  a  jungle  like  aquascape.  It  looks  good  and  a  unique  identity  in  itself.
Anyways  what  the  specs  for  the  tank.

hey  thanks  sunny  for  your  comment..sorry  dude,i  dont  want  to  add  pvc  into  my  tank..i  guess  it  makes  it  look  artificial..
i  have  a  piece  of  nana  in  hand  which  i  am  planning  to  introduce  into  the  tank..
 the  specs  are-
15inches  length  and  1  foot  breadth  and  height..
substrate-laterite  and  humus  plus  and  coarse  gravel.
plants-planning  to  add  only  tenellus  and  hairgrass..
 any  more  suggestions  ?

its  looking  ok,but  i  think  your  mbuna  will  like  some  more  cracks  and  crevasses  to  dart  into  when  the  mahabharata  starts  in  your  tank  Chuckle  .  the  open  spaces  will  be  terrorised  by  your  dominant  mbuna.
so  maybe  some  volcanic  or  other  jagged  rocks,  imo, keep  it  a  rockscape.  else  can  think  of  DIY  caves  or  rocky  background  to  add  to  the  effect.  Thumb Up

A  small  advice  from  me,  Hrishi.  Do  not  listen  to  someone  who  can  not  show  you  a  good  planted  tank  that  he  has  created.

Now  a  days  it  is  a  trend  that  everybody  wants  to  teach  and  nobody  wants  to  learn.   ROFL

I  am  not  a  good  teacher  but  there  are  many  more  accomplished  auqascapers  here.  All  I  can  suggest  for  you  is  to  see  as  many  standard  scapes  as  you  can  find.  Look  in  different  sites  like  AGA,  etc.  See  what  they  are  using,  and  try  to  grasp  the  idea  of  rock  placement,  arrangement  in  general.  Decide  based  on  how  much  time  money  and  space  you  can  afford  for  the  tank.  Like  wise  identify  the  right  way  to  move  ahead.

P.s  -  I  find  the  rocks  pathetic.  You  seldom  find  such  characterless  stones  in  nature.

 Hi  Hrishi,
About  rock  placements  and  other  issues  related  to  rock  I  suppose  Dev-Severum  Kid  is  one  of  the  best  ones  to  guide  you...

 Hi  Hrishi

Good  to  know  that  you  have  been  bitten  by  the  Planted  Aquarium  Bug.  The  way  i  look  at  it,  creating  a  planted  aquarium  is  like  trying  to  recreate  a  scene  in  nature.  So  .....  First  ,  I  am  not  too  happy  with  the  stones  you  have  used,  it  has  a  very  artificial  look  and  feel  to  it.  Try  to  get  your  hands  on  some  Natural  Rocks  like  from  a  water  body.  These  stones  will  add  a  very  natural  effect  to  your  tank.  You  have  made  a  very  flat  layer  of  substrate.  Try  getting  some  slope  in  there,  will  give  the  sense  of  depth  to  the  scape.  Now  there  ends  my  opinion  on  the  picture  of  your  tank.

Now  ,  I  presume  you  are  interested  in  using  rocks  for  your  scape,  go  through  the  below  link,  you  will  know  all  what  you  need  to  know  about  using  rocks  in  scapes.  Also  remember,  the  plants  you  choose  depends  on  your  setup  (Light,Substrate,  CO2  etc)  as  well.
