Vyas  a  friend  of  mine  had  3  of  these  at  his  farm.  They  do  get  a  little  too  aggressive  i  would  say.  They  are  huge  as  well,  he  has  these  and  a  couple  of  the  Rajpalyams.  But  as  he  says  amazing  watch  dogs  for  a  120  acre  farm.

Mudhol  is  a  place  close  to  Belgaum, these  dogs  are  available  at  a  very  low  price, really  tough  breed, does  not  require  any  vacination, can  live  on  leftover  food  ,ideally  suited  as  guard  dogs  on  farms
 Regards

Extreme  hounds,  these  are.  I  used  to  have  a  couple  of  Rajapalayams  at  the  farm,  used  to  cover  the  entire  farm  in  a  matter  of  minutes.  Unfortunately  the  male  jumped  over  a  6'  wall  and  got  run  over  by  a  bus.  We  had  to  give  the  pining  female  away.

@Nikhil/Shubhankar  ..This  show  was  the  first  time  I  saw  Mudhols...Fell  in  love  with  them  the  moment  I  saw  them...Strangely  they  were  quite  friendly..Very  unlike  their  reputation!!

We  had  a  pair  of  Rajapalayams  at  our  factory  a  long  time  back...Had  to  be  given  away  when  they  terrorized  the  workers...Drew  blood  at  every  chance!!!

Right  now  we  have  a  pair  of  Labrador  retrievers  at  home..

@Shishir...Not  sure  If  I  can  ever  afford  to  keep  these  in  Bangalore...maybe  If  I  move  back  home.....I  would  seek  your  help  to  get  a  pair  of  these...

Awesome  man.  These  are  for  my  cousins  farm.  But  the  the  ones  pics  have  lotsa  fur,  less  suitable  to  Erode  heat  I  suppose.  Would  love  to  have  the  ones  in  the  first  few  pics..   less  fur.

 Yes,  Vignesh.

These  are  different  -  Rajapalayam,  Mudhol,  Kanni,  Kombai,  Caravan  Hound,  Chippipaarai,  Rampur  Hound  are  all  different  native  breeds.  It  is  believed  that  the  Caravan  Hounds  were  brought  in  by  the  Afghans  though.

Vyas  my  friend  still  has  the  Rajapalayams,  i  love  those  dogs.  They  are  friendly  but  only  the  female.  The  male  is  now  really  old  and  so  doesnt  really  chase  us  but  stays  very  aloof.  But  amazing  dogs  all  in  all.

If  you  have  a  contact  for  the  person  selling  the  Rajapalayams  it  will  be  great.  My  friend  is  on  the  look  out  for  some  more  of  them.

@Gokul  :  The  Dogs  in  the  Second  pic  are  of  Golden  Retriever  ...Might  not  favor  the  heat  too  welll...The  two  in  the  pic  stay  in  Coimbatore  though.....

@Nikhil...Will  let  you  know  if  I  can  get  some  good  contacts....You  might  need  to  be  careful  when  you  pick  up  this  breed,  Have  been  known  to  have  a  high  percentage  of  deafness  among  dogs!..........Suraj...Any  leads  with  you?

The  female  I  had  was  deaf,  but  very  active  though.

I  might  hit  Rajapalayam,  the  town,  sometime  in  January.  Will  try  to  get  contacts.  My  father  picked  them  up  about  10  years  back  from  there.
