 Friends,

I  am  planning  for  riccia  only  nano.  So  will  be  using  some  standard  gravel  and  some  lava  rock  structure.  Just  want  to  know  what  fertilizers  should  i  use.
I  have  some  ADA  step1  and  Balance  K  which  i  am  already  using  in  my  ADA  tank.  Can  i  use  the  same?
There  is  no  document  which  describes  what  all  macro  and  micro  nutrients  are  available  in  ADA  step1.

 Any  suggestions?

Also  i  am  planning  to  use  seachem  fluorish  excel  for  CO2  substitute  .  is  it  ok?

 Regards,
 Jasbir  SIngh

 Hey  Jasbir,

The  ricca  likes  a  lot  of  light  and  good  Co2,  its  a  fast  growing  plant  so  i  suggest  you  use

Step  1,  Brighty  K,  Green  Brighty  special  lights  and  if  the  riccia  is  looking  pale  green  then  you  should  try  ECA.

 yes  dear  friend
Its  wise  to  use  good  Co2+  lights  on  riccia  thats  very  imporant.fertilisers  rich  in  iron  is  also  important  for  their  healthy  growth.

what  is  ECA?  Also  is  it  ok  to  use  just  Ada  step1  and  brighty  k.  Does  somebody  know  what  are  the  constituents.  Also  is  it  ok  to  use  lava  rock  to  tie  riccia?

 Hi  Scorpio,
You  tank  looks  amazing   Thumb Up  just  wanted  to  know  how  you  carpeted  riccia.  I  tried  a  lot  of  times  but  it  ended  up  growing  the  same  place  where  i  had  put  it,  It  would  be  great  if  you  could  share  your  technique.

Put  Riccia  on  stones  and  tide  with  it  with  thread.  I  have  also  use  some  hair  algea  to  tie  riccia  itself.
Hair  algea  grow  twice  faster  in  comparison  of  riccia.  So  every  week  bring  out  Hair  algea  from  the  tank  and  the  carpet  of  riccia  will  not  forget  the  stone.
Plz  don't  laugh  on  my  technique.

ECA  -  Essential  complex  acid  (  main  constituent  is  Iron)  basically  helps  the  green  plants  look  greener  and  the  red  plants  more  red.

Step  1  and  Brighty  K   are  good  to  start  with  but  slowly  you  would  need  a  bit  of  ECA.

Please  visit  your  nearest  ADA  retailer  and  pick  the  Riccia  line  and  Riccia  stone  for  some  neat  work.

 *  I  opened  a  new  thread  actually,  many  have  contacted  me,  but  some  have  high  rates  and  1  is  waiting  to  give  me  correct  bank  details.  Moderator  hamza  noticed  his  riccia  wont  work  when  packaging  so  that  got  cancelled  too.  lets  see.

 Thanks  anyway  jasbir.

 Aquadip,

Thanks  a  lot  for  the  info.
Hey  just  need  another  expert  comment  from  you.

My  riccia  actually  died  in  my  nano.
I  tied  it  to  lava  rocks  with  a  net.
lights  i  am  using  is  24  watts  for  7  litres  tank.  So  should  be  sufficient  enough.
Substrate  is  Ada  gravel  and  ADA  amazonia(  very  little  since  i  dont  have  any  stem  in  my  nano)

what  do  you  think  is  the  cause  for  riccia  melting?

 Regards,
 Jasbir  Singh

@jasbir  Hope  you  dont  mind  if  i  chime  in.

Were  you  dosing  any  Co2  with  liquid  or  diy?  How  long  did  you  keep  lights  on?  Can  you  tell  the  avg.  temp  in  the  tank  during  the  time  riccia  was  in?

if  your  riccia  was  very  weak  (cloth  like)  and  not  brittle  and  firm  then  it  was  not  getting  enough  co2  and  started  ,melting/dying.

Any  plants  needs  to  assimilate  to  water  conditions  when  introduced  in  tank,  its  recommended  to  first  float  it  for  some  days  and  then  start  submerging  into  water  on  rocks  or  carpet  etc.
