When I was looking for a FH at Kurla (E), they had several FH at about 3.5 inches in length. Now, these little juveniles had some impressive head-growth (kok) which the seller pointed as the reason for them being relatively expensive.
Doesn't a large (1+ inch and nearly spherical) kok in FH that small (3.5 inches) actually suggest a high-hormone dose rather than true quality of the fish??
In my opinion (and I am not an expert), if you're on a limited budget, it is much better (and ethical) to gamble on an 2 inch FH with good pattern (flowers and pearls) and little or no kok and hope it's a male (for less than Rs1000)...rather than going for these hormone-pumped 3.5 inchers with huge koks (for about Rs 2500-3000) which might as well turn out to be female after the hormones wear off..
