 Hello  All!!

I  have  recently  set  up  30  inches  x  12  inches  tank.  I  have  Angelfish  (3)  and  Goldfish(4)  together.  Am  a  little  unsure  about  the  different  varieties  of  fishes  that  i  can  keep  altogether.  Well,  my  query  is  regarding  the  food  habits  of  the  Goldfish.  I  am  dropping  the  food  but  the  Goldfishes  do  not  come  to  the  top  to  eat  it  and  as  the  food  floats  on  water,  it  seldom  gets  to  really  eat  it.  Am  getting  worried  now.  Angelfish  seems  to  quite  curious  in  this  respect  and  eat  whenever  i  drop  the  food  and  am  concerned  that  I  do  not  overfeed  the  Angelfish.

Also,  I  have  just  kept  a  small  Hydrilla  in  the  tank,  is  that  appropriate,  or  should  i  remove  it?  If  its  ok  to  keep  it,  please  advise  where  from  can  I  get  it.

Please  advise.  Thank  you  so  much.

 1.  What  exactly  are  you  feeding  them?  (Because  Goldfish  usually  are  voracious  eaters!)

 2.  What  is  the  size  of  the  goldfish  and  the  Angel  fish?  (Are  the  Angels  too  big  and  scary  for  the  goldfish?)  Goldfish  and  Angelfish  are  NOT  compatible  tank-mates.

 3.  You  copied  my  username!!!!!  (But,  thank  you  for  not  using  a  "z"  at  the  end  Smile  )

 Regards,
 Sid

My  goldfishes  are  of  3  inches  in  size  whereas,  the  Angelfish  are  2  inches  in  length.  Am  so  clueless  now,  I  had  enquired  about  their  compatibility  at  the  pet  shop,  they  told  me  that  we  can  keep  them  together,  and  now  am  scared.  although  i  haven't  seen  the  Angelfish  attacking  the  Goldfish.

goldfish  and  angels  are  two  completely  different  fishes.  remove  one  of  them  pronto.  if  i  remember  correctly  goldfish  need  cold  water  whereas  angels  require  higher  temperature.  they  would  die  in  cold  water.

I  was  inquiring  about  a  Silver  Arowana  with  the  LFS  guy  who  I  had  already  bought  Goldfish  from.  At  the  time,  unaware  of  my  plans  to  buy  a  new  tank  for  the  Aro,  the  LFS  guy  tried  to  convince  me  that  the  Silver  Arowana  is  compatible  with  Goldfish..  ROFL  (Basically,  they  just  want  to  make  the  sale!)

Basically  the  diagnosis  of  this  problem  is  that  Angels  and  Goldfish  are  not  compatible.  (There  is  the  "long  term"  issue  that  Goldfish  are  cold-water  (temperate)  fish  and  Angels  are  Tropical  fish  with  different  requirements  in  water  conditions.  And  there  is  the  more  immediate  issue  of  temperament/aggression.)

You  can  try  to  solve  the  "immediate  problem"  temporarily  by  putting  in  a  partition  and  separating  the  Goldfish  from  the  Angels.

 Good  luck,
 Sid
