Thanks  Trevor  for  providing  information  regarding  aquaREACH  foundation.  Indeed  it  will  help  the  upliftment  of  the  poor  womens  as  it  is  happend  in  rural  Bengal  where  womens  are  organized  under  the  aigis  of  small  scale  sectors(getting  the  status  of  cottage  industry  thus  enable  them  to  get  Banks  loan)to  produce  ornamental  fishes.
 Regards
 Kaushik

Yes  kaushik  da  in  rural  Bengal  small  women  groups  are  in  to  ornamental  fish  farming  and  other  businesses  like  manufacturing  and  packaging  of  popular  spices,  candles  etc.
But  a  lot  more  needs  to  be  done.  I  think  some  of  the  MBAs  from  your  college  should  venture  in  to  this  yet  to  be  tapped  field.  If  properly  managed  then  these  small  but  moderately  organised  groups  of  women  can  generate  a  lot  of  business.

Maybe  now  Rocky.  But  not  for  long.  You  may  have  a  twenty  five  year  lead  and  head  start  but  we  are  sure  to  overtake  you  in  a  couple  of  years.  We  have  just  made  a  beginning.   Razz

Sounds  like  a  great  initiative  all  around.  More  fish  for  hobbyists  at  cheaper  rates  and  education  of  the  general  public.  Would  be  great  if  they  could  help  conserve  endangered  local  fish  -  like  a  few  members  of  the  danio  family.

It  would  be  nice  to  know  how  this  project  is  now.  Has  it  been  a  success?

Thanks  to  Elaine  for  bumping  this  thread  back  from  oblivion.

So,  does  anyone  know  how  is  this  project  going  on?

If  the  founders  are  interested,  this  could  be  a  contender  for  BBC's  World  Challenge
