 Hi  Jib,

Those  are  really  good  pictures,  but  can  we  see  more  of  the  fish?  :)

How  big  is  he  now?  What  is  his  diet?  Is  he  housed  alone  or  with  some  of  your  "Monsters"?

(You  have  no  idea  how  tempted  I  am  to  get  one  of  these.  I  am  just  waiting  for  finalizing  the  6footer  Sad)

 Cheers,
 Sid

mate  i  suggest  u  better  get  the  6  footer  then  try  and  get  more  fish
u  already  have  too  many  fish  in  that  tank  of  urs,  and  these  guys  are  super  aggressive,  and  usually  mess  up  other  fish  quite  fast

right  now  he  must  be  like  11"  or  so
he  is  alone  in  a  90g  tank  with  a  few  convicts  just  for  dithers
 he  eats
 -frozen  bloodworms
 -frozen  artemia
 -hikari  cichlid  excel
 -hikari  cichlid  gold  floating
 -hikari  cichlid  gold  sinking

 Thanks  for  the  information  Jib,

 One  more  question:

What  is  the  biggest  challenge  with  keeping  the  "Afrowana"?

Size  of  the  fish  and  hence  the  required  tank-size  is  one  challenge.  Are  there  any  other  challenges  specific  to  keeping  the  African  Arowana?

(I  am  asking  because,  this  fish  isn't  particularly  expensive  as  per  international  standards.  Yet,  it  seems  very  few  people  have  an  Afrowana  even  on  International  forums.  Hence  the  above  question.)

 Thanks,
 Sid

 Thanks,

the  biggest  challenge  is  growing  one  to  6-7",  'cause  unless  u  can  provide  them  care  as  if  they  are  infants  they  will  not  survive,  but  that  is  only  due  to  their  feeding  requirements,  else  they  are  quite  hardy,  when  i  had  a  small  one,  he  even  went  thru  a  bout  of  ich  and  was  still  a  full  spirit.

food  should  be  small,  even  a  blood  worm  can  be  too  big  for  them  when  they  are  less  4"  or  so,  and  the  second  thing  is  to  get  them  onto  pellets  'cause  u  can't  keep  providing  small  particle  food  for  them  in  large  quantities  as  they  grow

yes  they  are  cheap,  but  believe  me,  i  paid  for  this  specimen  more  than  what  i  had  paid  for  a  green  aro  bigger  than  this  one.
