Are they common in India ?
May I know what sort of natural habitat do they come from ? do they need fast flowing water, cool water temperature, high oxygen etc.. ? some info on the water requirement will be great !

has been found in fast-moving rivers with sandy bottoms, they are not that common i guess
Size 180mm (7.1")
pH 6.0 - 7.0
Temperature 10.0-22.0°C or 50-71.6°F (Show others within this range)
Needs well oxygenated water.
Feeding Readily feeds on live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, but does not take prepared foods.
Furniture A sandy bottom with numerous rocks and some driftwood. Strong current and cool water is necessary, as these fishes are very sensitive to both temperature and oxygen levels.
think that helps |

Yes, they don't travel well. I was told most die during shipment.

I used to keep 4 for abt 3 to 4 months till one incident that went wrong - I use a new water treatment product and I lost all of them.
As what I read over the internet, most info stated that this fish prefers fast water etc.. however, my fish seem to prefer the quieter spot away for the water flow in the tank. That's why I started this thread hoping to get some clarification.
btw, are they hard to get in India ? |
