I  have  my  doubts  about  Marselia  growing  in  that  soil,  Specially  with  that  height  of  soil  and  no  CO2.

what  kind  of  light  is  that?  which  brand?  does  it  have  2xT5  or  1xpll?  Add  more  plants.  add  more  substrate.  Its  too  less  for  the  plants  to  root  in.

Sen  Sen  2xT5  -  24w  each.  I'll  see  what  I  can  do  about  the  substrate.

I  am  sorry  to  say  that..  the  picture  are  screaming  rather  than  talking..  They  are  screaming  at  you  to  do  some  more  home  work.
Your  tank's  silicon  work  is  crappy,  I  don't  know  whether   you  or  somebody  else  did  it..  extra  clear  glass  is  all  wasted  because  of  it..
I  agree  with  others,  you  need  some  more  thickness  of  substrate.  and  don't  use  that  golden  sand,  they  have  all  kinds  of  shells  which  will  not  be  good  for  your  water  parameters.
filter  is  the  main  priority  for  your  tank  to  cycle,  so  get  it  as  soon  as  possible..
add  some  more  hardware  like  stones  and  driftwood..  get  more  plants  after  you  do  the  changes  as  mentioned.
The  only  positive  as  of  now  is  the  lights..

Well  we  all  learn  from  our  mistakes  dont  we?  The  finishing  wasnt  up  to  the  mark  by  the  LFS  but  calling  it  wasted  a  little  extreme  isnt  it?

Anyways,  ya  Im  going  to  increase  the  substrate  depth  by  adding  more  laterite  to  the  base  layer.  The  sand  has  been  in  an  aquarium  for  over  year  &  the  fishes  have  been  doing  fine.  Would  they  still  have  any  problems?

I've  a  few  stones  which  were  moved  from  another  aquarium  to  this  one,  I  guess  it'll  help  with  the  cycling  process.

Sorry,  I  didn't  mean  to  hurt.  I  know  you  have  spent  a  lot  on  the  glass,  I  was  just  pointing  out  at  what  you  could  have  had,  instead  of  what  you  have  now.
I  guess  you  are  happy  with  it..  so  forget  it..

even  a  a  tank  with  no  hardscape  can  be  made  to  look  diffrent  by  just  playing  with  the  substrate  ..give  it  a  slope  ....raise  it  at  the  corners  etc.....but  by  adding  stones  it  helps  with  holding  the  substrate  in  place...the  net  is  filled  with  info  for  various  scapes  Very Happy  plus  you  have  all  the  IAH  guys  to  advice  &  help  .....

 Regards,

 Marc.

The  lighting  is  also  WWWAAYYY  to  high  for  this  tank  especially  with  no  CO2,  no  filter  and  extremely  low  plant  mass.  Its  gonna  turn  into  an  algae  party  if  you  do  not  rectify  it  soon

I  would  suggest  you  to  set  a  target  of  two  days,  might  be  this  weekend,  to  collect  what  ever  necessary  to  make  this  particular  tank  more  beautiful.

 I  would  suggest  you  to

 1)  Arrange  more  laterite  also  some  rich  addition  to  substrate,  like  humus,  vermicompost,  you  are  from  bangalore  you  will  get  these  easily  from  your  local  hobbyist.  If  I  am  not  wrong.
 2)  Arrange  some  top  up  inert  substrate  also,  like  normal  building  sand,  wash  it  properly  and  use,  try  to  get  the  bigger  grain  of  it.  Or  Golden  sand  you  may  search.
 3)  Get  your  filter  done  within  this  time,  or  else  you  may  end  up  with  mess.
 4)  Search  for  more  plants,  you  need  that  very  badly,  contact  any  local  planted  Hobbyist,  they  may  give  some  trimming  excess.
 5)  Read  a  bit  on  how  to  make  slop  and  what  effect  can  be  created  in  the  tank  with  slope.
 6)  See  some  hardscapeing  in  the  net,  and  try  as  minimum  as  possible.
 7)  Without  CO2  its  very  difficult  to  grow  maximum  plants,  so  try  to  arrange  atleast  DIY  CO2.

You  have  to  do  this  within  2days,  otherwise  you  will  have  algae  in  the  tank  and  you   may  lose  your  present  plant  collection  also.  Let  these  2days  grow  the  plants  in  the  tank,  collect  all  items  and  then  restart  your  tank  to  get  proper  result.

 All  the  best.

Gyus  had  to  change  the  soil  as  laterite  started  seeping  into  the  top  layer  turning  the  water  Red!

Anyways,  have  ADA  Amazonia  now  HOB  filter  functional  more  plants  coming  up  in  a  few  days  time.
