 Hi  Friends,

I  have  decided  to  go  for  a  pressurised  CO2  setup  for  my  4ft  tank.
I  currently  have  christmas  moss,  Dwarf  Sagitaria  and  few  crypts.  I  love  driftwoods  hence  had  used  less  plants.
I  currently  use  the  Disposible  CO2  canisters.  Iam  planning  to  increase  the  number  of  plants.
I  wanted  to  know  if  the  glass  diffuser  would  be  ok  to  use  in  a  4ft  tank  ?

 Please  advice.

 Dennis

I  doubt  if  using  diffuser  for  a  long  tank  would  be  effective.  As  the  diffuser  would  not  be  able  to  dissolve  the  co2  into  the  entire  tank.

I  have  seen  my  friend  using  two  diffusers  in  his  4  feet  tank.  But  maintaining  the  bps  in  both  the  diffusers  would  be  difficult.

He  had  the  diffuser  on  both  the  ends  of  the  tank  and  had  used  two  separate  needle  valve  for  the  two  diffusers.

Let  experienced  members  provide  their  views.  Will  wait  for  them  too..   Smile

 Hi  Dennis,

From  my  experience  a  glass  diffuser  is  ideal  for  a  planted  tank.  And  that  too  if  it  is  made  of  Sintered  glass.

Its  easy  to  clean  and  reuse  time  and  again  and  there  is  never  a  problem.

You  can  also  vary  the  Co2  Level  by  keeping  it  at  different  heights  and  also  by  adjusting  the  bubble  rate  in  the  counter.

 Thanks  Shelly  and  Adip.

Yes,  the  glass  diffuser  looks  good  too.  My  concern  was,  will  the  CO2  which  is  diffused,  will  reach  all  the  areas  in  the  tank.
If  i  increase  the  bubble  rate,  would  there  be  an  algae  problem  ?
Or  should  i  go  for  a  CO2  reactor  (connected  to  an  outlet  of  a  canister  filter).

 Please  advice.

 Hi  Dennis,

check  if  you  can  use  CO2  Mixer.  i  had  implemented  both  .........  Co2  Mixer  is  very  efficient  for  a  4  footer.

 Regards,
 TK

 Ohhh  ok.

But  what  exactly  is   CO2  mixer.  How  is  it  different  from  a  reactor  ?
   Shocked

I  have  a  1200  L/H  Canister  filter,  an  internal  power  filter  and  a  Hang  on  power  filter.
 Circulation  is  quite  good.
My  doubt  is,  with  the  glass  diffuser,  will  the  co2  reach  all  areas  in  the  tank.

For  a  4  feet  tank  co2  mixer  with  a  power  head  will  be  good..  This  help  Co2  to  reach  all  corners  of  the  tank..

But  as  you  tell  the  internal  filtration  is  good  you  can  go  with  a  diffuser..

The  best  option  is  Co2  mixer

add  a  mixer  to  your  canister  filter  outlet  pipe  that  would  work  best  for  this  size

Not  a  expert  but,,,,,you  can  place  the  glass  diffuser  somewhere  below  the  filter  output  ,and   the  flow  along  the  length  of  the  aquarium...  Thumb Up

My  doubt  is  -  when  you  mix  sugar  in  tea/milk  doesnt  it  make  whole  of  it  tasty?
Now  when  you  are  diffusing,  your  aim  is  to  dissolve  it  in  water,  isnt  it  the  same  scenario  as  above?

Glass  Diffusers  are  good  but  it  tends  to  clog  itself  after  few  days  of  use....  some  people  clean  it  with  chlorine  after  it  gets  clogged.....try  CO2  reactors  if  possible....

 Hi  Dennis

Its  perfectly  ok  to  use  pressurized  c02  in  4  feet  tank  i  also  have  4feet  tank

and  its  work  perfectly  .  only  thing  you  have  to  consider  is  the  amount  of  co2  which  again

depend  upon  your   amount  and  type  of  plant  you  have  you  can  adjust  time  and  BPS.

 And  it  will  work  fine.

 Thanks
 Rahul
