 Pretty  depressing  to  see  the  way  these  betta  fish  are  treated..let's  hope  this  link  helps  create  more  awareness  about  how  to  keep  betta  fish.  I've  seen  customers  who  go  to  LFS  and  buy  fish  and  equipment  because  they  have  money  to  spare,  treating  the  tank  and  its  inmates  as  some  sort  of  interior  decor,  without  any  proper  idea  as  to  what  they  are  getting  into..and  most  LFS  owners  do  not  try  to  educate  the  buyer  either  as  they  are  more  concerned  about  their  immediate  profits..  Sad

 Saju

 most  of  the  LFS  are  interested  in  just  selling  of  things  and  making  money.
 some  of  them  do  inform  and  educate  the  customers.  but  then  as  you  said  they  have  money  and  if  they  dont  get  it  from  here  they  will  go  to  some  other  place  and  buy  it.
 they  will  kill  all  the  fishes  then  come  back  for  buying  more  fishes

 @nidhi  @shaju

 u  are  so  right.

 i  was  in  this  shop  and  saw  a  betta  gasping,  in  a  small  bag  left  unopened.  i  thought  if  i  bought  it,  i  would  be  paying  the  #astard  for  doing  it.  the  price,  as  u  know,  is  peanuts.  i  didnt  buy.  a  man  in  my  thirties,  i  felt  embarassed  i  was  frozen  for  five  minutes,  standing  there,  working  the  point  out  in  my  mind.  but  it  has  been  three  years,  i  ask  myself  if  leaving  is  a  solution  to  anything  in  this  country.  ''''  but  then  we  indians  walk  away  form  people  too,  dont  we?

 one  solution  is  paying  an  organization  that  raids  shops  for  animal  cruelty.  such  raids  have  happened  in  delhi,  but  they  overplay  their  hand.  i  have  paid  Greenpeace  for  7  years  now,  that  monthly  subscription  they  come  to  your  office  for.  but  they  have  more  things  to  do,  like  GM  crops  and  asbestos  laden  ships  kiling  poor  workers.

 what  is  one  to  do?  what  is  the  way  out?

 Guys,  thers  no  way  out,  the  only  way  out  is  to  make  hobbyist  aware.  and  to  educate  the  new  hobbyist  which  are  just  fooled  around  with  the  gimmic  of  the  selfish  lfs  owners.

 i  go  nuts  on  seeing  painted  and  ballon  fishes,  thats  also  example  of  animal  cruelty,  but  new  hobbyist  are  willingly  buying  them  for  their  new  shape  and  Florissant  color  and  lfs  owners  fool  them  by  saying  them  latest  fish  and  all  bla  bla  bla......
