 Hi  Guys,

Picking  up  my  tank  from  Kiran  later  today.  Planning  on  a  planted  community  setup.  Will  start  off  with  a  few  tetras  in  the  tank.  Neons,  Rummynose,  Bleeding  Hearts,  Glo-lights,  Black  Cardinals,  Head-n-tailights  based  on  availability.

What  others  varieties  can  I  choose?  Would  it  be  possible  to  add  guppies  and  banded  barbs  safely  without  any  nipping?  I  have  read  that  tiger  barbs  are  notorious  for  nipping.

 The  tank  is  a  2.5'  x  1.5'  x  1.5'.

Black  Neons  and  Cardinal.  But  I  might  skip  the  black  neons  since  they  are  quite  similar  to  the  neons.

i  think  you  should  stay  away  from  tiger  barbs  as  they  may  trouble  the  neons  and  certain  other  tetras..if  you  going  in  for  a  tetra  tank  i  would  suggest  you  stick  to  only  tetras...
 how  about  lemon  tetras?phantoms?

 Hi  Toomanyfish,

I  don't  want  to  stick  to  a  tetras-only  tank,  since  this  is  my  first  and  I  would  certainly  love  to  have  some  variety.  Tiger  Barbs  are  certainly  not  in  the  list.

I  was  thinking  of  a  few  guppies  (good  strain)  and  maybe  a  couple  of  small  angels  to  break  the  monotony  of  small  fish.

 Hi
Check  out  the  folowing  link.  I  have  modelled  my  tanks  somewhat  on  their  lines.
 http://www.elmersaquarium.com/nav/freshwater/index.html

Only  small  angels  can  go  in  this  set  up  .  Guppies  might  get  eaten  up  by  larger  angels.

hmm  you  might  have  a  problem  adding  angels  with  fish  like  neons  and  guppies...Because  as  angels  grow  older  neons  and  guppies  become  a  nice  snack  for  them!
Another  option  is  add  angels  and  add  cardinals  instead  of  neons  and  guppies..

Right  now,  Kiran  is  working  on  my  tank  and  the  complete  setup.  Will  be  picking  it  up  tomorrow.  In  case  Kiran  doesn't  have  a  particular  fish,  we  will  be  checking  out  Nitin  for  the  same.  But  no  LFS  for  me.

Hey  why  dont  you  go  about  setting  up  a  tank  centered  around  angels...you  know  maybe  2  pairs  of  angels  and  then  some  rummy  nose  and  cardinals..in  a  heavily  planted  tank..should  look  great  anyways  let  us  see  pics  of  it  once  its  setup!
