 Hi  All,

I  recently  had  a  30%  water  change  and  from  then,  few  of  my  discus  are  glued  to  the  top  of  my  tank.  I  had  never  observed  this  behavior  before,  at  least  from  past  two  weeks.

Can  you  please  guide  me  on  what  could  be  the  problem.

But  the  other  panda  pair  and  Pigeon  is  doing  well,  I  have  not  added  any  attachment  though.

 Immediate  help  required...

 Thanks  in  advance,
 krissh

My  suggestion  u  change  the  water  again.

Did  you  added  any  new  discus  in  to  this  tank  recently  .  During  WC  ,  do  you  use  aged  water  or  adding  antichlorine  to  the  new  water  .  Your  tank  size  is  small  and  doing  WC  30%  in  3  days  is  not  sufficient  .

Try  doing  50%  WC  with  aged  water  daily  till  your  discus  shows  improvement  .

 Thanks
 Shiva

 Hi  Shiva  sir,

Thanks  a  lot  for  your  suggestion,  I  would  do  50%  wc  going  further.

I  used  water  which  was  antichlorinated  a  day  ago.

Also  the  Panda  shown  in  the  picture  is  the  new  addition  to  the  tank  and  was  doing  great  until  I  changed  the  water  yesterday  night.

Only  after  adding  this  panda,  my  2  inch  discus  started  moving  around  with  the  bigger  one  all  over  the  tank,  without  sticking  to  the  corners  which  was  the  case  earlier.

Also  I  added  a  20-25  gms  of  salt  to  the  tank  yesterday  after  cleaning.  is  this  a  problem?  and  is  it  good  to  use  antichlorinated  new  water?

 Thanks  in  advance,
 krissh

Don't  you  have  a  filter  in  your  tank.
I  am  not  sure  about  adding  salt.
This  problem  is  often  due  to  water  quality,  try  and  act  on  Shiva's  suggestions.it  should  help

problem  may  with  new  addition  or  poor  water  quality.
Hope  you  are  using  rock  salt  .20-25  gm  rock  salt  may  not  be  a  problem.
did  you  quarantine  your  new  discusbefore  adding  to  the  existing  bunch?

 Hi  All,

Thanks  for  your  suggestion  Shiva  sir,  I  made  water  change  and  now  they  are  doing  fine,  they  move  around  smoothly.

Sandeep:  Hi,  Yes  I  have  filter  in  the  tank,  its  a  three  level  water  filtering  at  the  back  of  the  tank.

Swarnendu:  Hi,  I  used  crystal  salt,  is  it  different  from  rock  salt?

ratheeshkollam:  Hi,  Yes  I  quarantined  them  before  adding  to  my  tank.

Deba:  Hi,  Now  they  are  doing  fine,  I  will  update  the  latest  photos  sooner.

 Thanks  for  all  your  suggestions.

 Happy  discussing  :)

 Thanks,
 krissh

Alls  well  that  ends  well!  Thumb Up

Just  want  to  take  this  opportunity  to  ask  Shivada  to  clear  a  small  doubt  in  this  regard.
We  all  know  that  adding  iodized  salt  is  a  strict  NO  for  the  discus.  What  is  the  reason  for  this  and  what  are  the  symptoms  that  show  up  on  the  fish  if  somebody  mistakenly  adds  such  salt  in  his  tank?

 @aquarius

Some  where  i  heard  that  Iodine  will  increase  the  water  hardness.
It  may  be  a  reson.but  not  sure.
shiva  sir  can  you  plz  clarify.I  would  also  like  to  know  the  exact  reason.

Ratheesh, even  rock  salt  or  any  salt  dissolved  will  increase  the  hardness.
As  far  as  I  know, free  flow  salt  contains  some  agent  called  SodiumHexacyanoferrate11.
Probably  that  agent  is  toxic  to  the  fishes.
As  you  have  said, let  us  wait  for  the  Guru  to  clarify  on  this  issue!
