 Hi  friends,

I  seen  in  one  video  they  used  co2  system  in  this  type  for  small  tanks...

 INSTRUCTIONS:

Fill  chamber  with  water  from  the  aquarium  and  secure  it  with  suction  cups  at  the  pump  in  the  corner  of  the  aquarium.

Check  that  the  valve  plug  at  the  top  of  the  chamber  is  mounted.

Attach  tubing  to  the  CO2  bottle  and  the  chamber.

Fill  the  chamber  with  CO2  under  the  table.  The  chamber  is  filled  every  day  at  the  beginning  of  the  light  period

 Thank  you

we  all  tried  this  Co2  Bell  reactor  method  for  a  while  back  in  2k3  ,  sorta  gave  it  up  when  a  consistent  30  ppm  was't  being  achieved!

Constant  CO2  for  a  fish  tank  has  a  price  the  question  is  in  what  way  you  pay  it!!  ,  it  will  be  wrong  to  state  that  constant  PPM  cannot  be  achieved  by  DIY  CO2.  It  is  possible  to  achieve  this  by  doing  combination  of  bottles  and  also  keeping  constant  eye  on  CO2  production  (  the  price  in  this  case  is  time  one  need  to  spend  and  effort  one  need  to  take)  for  X  this  will  be  cheaper  and  for  Y  this  may  be  costly  considering  his  work  etc.  So  it  is  for  the  individual  to  choose  between  these  two.  For  me  spending  time  for  replacing  bottles  and  keeping  constant  watch  became  expensive  than  the  amount  that  I  need  to  spend  on  a  pressurized  setup.  So  I  decided  to  replace  my  DIY  to  pressurized.   There  are  several  earlier  posts  where  people  explained  use  of  multiple  bottles  to  achieve  the  required  CO2  levels  depending  on  the  size  of  the  tank....

 with  best  regards,
 Sudheer

One  basic  flaw  in  this  system  is  that  the  bottle  can  explode  if  the  pressure  builds  up  due  to  valve  being  closed.

I  will  post  a  pic  of  my  system  with  bell  jar  soon  .

It  is  not  safe,  the  bottles  used  in  diy  co2  are  not  built  to  withstand  pressure.
The  production  of  Co2  cannot  be  controlled.
There  is  a  danger  of  Bottle  exploding  or  tubes  popping  out.
It  is  better  to  use  diy  systems  without  stop  valves.
However  a  simple  check  value  can  be  used  to  stop  back  flow  of  aquarium  water  in  the  bottle  when  gas  production  stops,  but  even  this  should  be  cleaned  on  a  monthly  basis.
