Dude.... salinity cant be 0.022... its 1.022...
yes, damsels are agressive and should be the last fish to add.. might have died due to that..
remove all the filter media, add a good protein skimmer...
stop using tap water, buy a quality water filter (im usinf Kent Grand Plus)
For current setup, Try building ATS or Add cheatomorpha to your sump, will bring phos. and nitrates down...
Turn off the lights for a week and increase the flow... |

Also add chromis as your first fish as its the hardiest of all.......
Plan on your stock, then add according to their aggression.... |

Nice to see another marine hobbyist from Mumbai..
Do regular water changes, 10-20% every 2 weeks and stick to that maintenance routine..and everything else should be fine.
I suggest a couple of weekly water changes should help, siphon out as much as possible during the water change. You can remove the sponges, the ceramic rings should be dusted/cleaned in the sump(do not take it out of the water) regularly to remove the detritus. Siphon the sump monthly.
Don't use carbon unless its one of the top brands like seachem/kz/rowa. It will only add to the algae growth by releasing phosphates.
Get a good skimmer, before u buy any, do post and ask if its good or not..
A refugium should help with nutrient export. If you require cheato let me know. |

Oh boy !!
your tank is victim of severe case of NO2 infestation. your tank is not completely cycled yet !!
white spots killing damsels... NO2 must have been more than 2 ppm. Please remove
all live stocks immediately, switch off lights to kill algae, just keep the flow on, also add
a good skimmer. keep it like this for at least a month, get the NO2 and NO3 test kits.
keep on testing NO2 every day, until 0 or 0.1. If you can, add another 2-3 Kgs of LR. |

Cyanobacteria! I am using lab grade carbon successfully!
Also, you can add alumina for the cyano.
The 6500K lighting is contributing to cyano as well, move to LED floodlights
Do not ever use bisleri, read the label it has nitrates in it
I am using kent grand plus as well with good results
On the sump, add filter socks to the overflow and ensure that there is no detiritus in the bio media
Most importantly, get a skimmer! Macro aqua ns-12 or ns-16 is good
Try all this and see how it goes! |
