 Hi  Shakku,

When  you  buy  from  such  online  stores  check  if  the  fish  is  dried  with  salt(normally  fish  is  added  with  lot  of  salt  before  drying).  If  it  is  with  lot  of  salt  i  dont  think  it  is  good.  From  my  discussion  with  few  of  my  friends  who  did  aquaculture  they  say  they  feed  them  fresh  SALT  WATER  prawns  to  enhance  colour(Please  note  that  it  is  not  my  personal  experience).

@  As  mentioned  by  Jaiby,  all  these  fishes  put-up  in  the  website  is  sold  for  human  consumption  and  they  would  have  definitely  dried  the  fishes  with  salt  in  it.  So  make  sure  that  it  does  not  contain  any  salt  and  only  then  feed  your  fishes.  May  be  you  can  try  contacting  the  supplier  and  gather  more  information.

 Thanks  for  the  helpful  replies.
they  are  in  a  55  gals  aquarium  ,  other  cichlids  are  half  of  the  size  of  oscar.  They  eat  too  much.  My  water  parameters  are  stable.  And  obviously  Oscar  is  the  BOSS.

Generally  when  i  see  red  tiger  oscar  in  pics  or  stores,  they  are  intensely  coloured.  Mine  one  is  light  orange  on  just  lower  half  of  its  body.  my  O  also  lighten  and  darken  its  black  color.  Can  i  know  why  this  happens  and  in  which  condition?

 Thanks  in  advance.

Water  changes  are  essential  to  coloration  and  quality  of  life.  Good  filters  also  play  a  good  role.
Coloration  will  not  significantly  improve  if  you  are  fishes  are  genetically  light  colored.  You  can  expect  slight  improvement.
one  way  you  can  give  a  try  in  terms  of  food  is  if  you  have  spirulina  and  carotene  content  in  your  food.
There  are  many  hobbyists  including  me  who  have  made  DIY  food  for  improving  food  and  ingredient  quality.

The  intense  colour  seen  in  LFS  is  normally  due  to  hormone  induced  feed,  this  colour  fades  as  soon  as  hormone  induced  feed  is  stopped.
If  the  fish  is  healthy  otherwise,  do  not  worry,  oscars  are  not  very  bright  red  coloured.
