 Hi  all,

 Im  interested  to  breed  cichlid.
 Tank  size  is  80  X  40  X  60  (centimeters).
What  will  be  the  eastiest  cichlid  to  start?.
Please  give  some  species  names  which  can  breed  without  difficulties  in  captivity.
Please  share  some  breeding  experience  too.

 Thanks  &  Regards,

Convict  cichlid  (Amatitlania  nigrofasciata)  are  very  easy  to  breed, just  add  an  adult  male  and  a  female  or  two  to  your  tank  within  a  week  or  so  they  will  form  a  pair  some  times  male  will  harasser  the  female  if  you  keep  only  the  pair  so  it  is  important  to  add  a  dither  fish.Adding  a  clay  pot  will  help  the  pair  to  lay  eggs, eggs  will  hatch  within  3-5  days  depending  on  the  temperature.
adding  2  females  to  a  male  will  increase  the  chances  of  getting  a  pair  at  the  earliest  and  it  would  also  act  as  a  dither  fish
 good  luck   Thumb Up

P.S  easy  to  breed  fish  are  difficult  to  get  rid  of(from  my  experience)

 Hi  Shashank88,

 Thanks  for  the  information.
I  came  across  the  word  dither  fish    many  times  in  these  forum.
What  is  it?.how  keeping  a  ditcher  fish  create  bond  or  pair  between  a  male  and  female.?

P.S  easy  to  breed  fish  are  difficult  to  get  rid  of(from  my  experience)
rightly  said.  Very Happy   .I  saw  zebra  convict  adults  unsold  for  nearly  2  months  in  lfs  near  to  my  place.
lfs  guy  said  the  same  thing.

 I  want  something  colourful.
I  already  have  11  malawi  cichlids  in  the  tank.
Im  looking  to  get  rid  of  these  cichlids.Too  much  aggression  lost  5  already.
I  did  some  research  and  found  some  interesting  species  like
 Kribensis,
 Apistogramma,German  blue  ram.
But  mine  is  not  planted  tank.
Lookig  forward  for  more  suggestions  and  advice  from  experts.
Can  i   have  the  above  species  without  natural  plant  setup.?

 Thanks  &  regards,
 Prabhakar

U  can  try  Jewel  cichilds  and  they  breed  very  fast  and  good  in  number.  Dedicated  parents.  Why  there  is  too  much  aggresion  in  your  tank  ?  post  a  tank  snap  please.

To  my  understanding  Dither  fish  is  something  which  will  encourage  your  shy  fish  to  come  out  from  the  hiding  place  and  encourage  them  to  eat  and  move  in  the  tank  freely. It  can  be  some  fish  from  some  other  group  too.
It  has  nothing  to  do  with  your  male  and  female  bonding.  BTW  Jewels  are  very  possesive  on  their  partners  so  your  dither  fish  will  not  stand  any  chance   Chuckle

Peacocks  and  Mbunas  never  work  out  together.   If  you  are  looking  to  breed,  one  of  the  easiest  option  would  be  Neolamprologus  Brichardi.

And  i  beg  to  differ  on  "P.S  easy  to  breed  fish  are  difficult  to  get  rid  of",  the  cichlids  you  have  are  some  of  the  common  ones  available,  meaning  they  are  easy  to  breed  Smile.

There  is  always  demand  for  common  fishes  for  example  Yellow  Labs.

Hi  ...If  they  have  laid  once...there  is  every  chance  that  they  will  lay  again.....but  couple  of  things.
Can  you  sex  them  ,  look  at  internet  of  visually  finding  out  a  male  vs  female.
 This  will  serve  you  best.
I  ask  you  do  that  because  ,  some  physical  differences  identified  cannot  be  a  sure  shot  of  identifying  male  vs  female.

And  if  you  have  a  perfect  pair....there  are  good  chances  that  first  few  attempts  might  be  futile...but  as  they  mature  ,  it  will  be  successful.
