Initially  sounded  like  a  great  idea.  But  I  doubt  if  that  works.
I  have  a  bare  bottom  tank.  I  have  a  thermocol  underneath  it  but  I  dont  see  white  base.
The  light  will  get  reflected  back  because  of  the  small  air  column  separation  between  glass  and  paper.
(When  my  thermocol  gets  wet  during  water  changes,  I  see  white  patches  in  the  bottom)
I  guess  this  is  the  reason  why  the  paint  works.
