Hello  all!   I  need  to  get  pest  control  done  at  home  soon  but  I'm  quite  worried  because  I  really  don't  see  a  way  to  shift  fish  with  so  many  special  needs!  I  have  7  different  compartments  right  for  just  10  fish!  What  can  I  do  to  keep  them  safe  without  moving  them  out?

Just  cover  all  tanks  with  Clothes  &  tie  them  with  Cloth  clip,  Its  step  to  ensure  not  a  single  drop  falls  inside  tank  water.  I  did  the  same  during  pest  control.  Take  out  cover  only  after  5-6  hours  after  pest  control.  Rest  assured!!  Thumb Up

Agreed...  also  cover  the  air  pump  properly,  so  only  good  air  can  pass  into  the  tank

There  are  n  numbers  of  synthetic  treatments  for  pests  but  I  would  advise  you  organic  one.  Plant  as  much  basil  as  possible.  Collect  basil  leafs  and  dry  them.  Make  powder  of  it  and  burn  it  so  that  it  emits  fog.  The  fog  will  acts  as  a  pest  controller.  For  more  information  about  synthetic  pest  click  here

 Hi,

Here  are  is  my  past  experience  on  this  -  I  had  done  pest  control  treatment  in  my  house,  except  the  fish  room  and  it  was  fully  packed  without  any  air  letting  it  inside  that  room,  even  though  I  lost  all  of  my  Shrimps.  Fishes  were  doing  fine.

I  dont  know  what  was  the  Myth  behind  the  death  of  only  Shrimps  and  not  Fishes.   Crying or Very sad

Gandhi  its  because  the  pesticides  are  toxic  to  invertebrates  and  insects  and  shrimp  are  related  as  they  are  both  invertebrates

Protective  measures  strongly  concerned  with  the  type  of  pesticide  used.  Organic  or  synthetic.

Almost  all  the  synthetic  pesticides  marketed  with  the  list  of  precautions  on  the  packing.

Do  all  thaat  and  pray  Chuckle

Just  kidding.  If  you  have  only  fish,  you  should  be  fine  with  just  covering  the  tank  and  filter.  But  if  you  have  shrimps,  keep  activated  carbon  handy  and  if  you  feel  your  water  is  contaminated,  add  it  to  your  filter.

Thanks  guys!  This  is  a  wealth  of  information!  Sorry  about  the  late  reply  it's  just  an  endless  barrage  of  exams  these  days.!   Crying or Very sad

I've  been  looking  for  this  answer  for  a  while  and  cutting  off  the  air  supply  and  dropping  the  water  level  are  definitely  important  but  a  cloth  cover  will  not  stop  a  gas.  So  that  aside  I  would've  implemented  this  but  it  turns  out  that  the  treatment  is  going  to  be  repeated  3  times!!(That's  practically  a  month!)  :O  Since  it  was  long  due  that  I  make  new  tanks,  I'm  building  two  new  ones  in  a  relative's  place  till  the  treatment  is  over.

Greatly  appreciate  the  active  and  varied  input  guys  Smile
