I m thinking about getting some dwarf Sags for carpeting in my 16g tank.
My tank details-
SIZE-18 g tank (holds 16g water excluding substrate.
Lighting- 2.5 W/Gallon CFl
Waterchange- 3.5 per week.
Fertz- doze Kcl, DAP, Epsom salt biweekly
Also use Diy Root tabs.
Filter-Powerhead 300 L per hour. Would soon change to 650 l/h.
CO2- Will start Diy soon.
1) How high will it grow in my light conditions? I do not want it to excede 2.5 inch in height.
2) How long will it take to carpet?
The most important question- 3) does it look good? Is it worth the effort? I will have to go through a lot of pains to get the plants and carpet it. Does the end result look good. I dont want to go through all that if in the end, I will just end up tearing up the carpet in disgust.
Can also share your experiance with this plant.

Wow! Thats some really beautiful tank you have got there.
Thanks for shairing. I read it from page 1 to 8 twice.
It really confirmed my fear that Dwarf Sag. does not form dense carpet and grows a bit high but gave the idea of using it in one of the front corner. I think will try to get some. I saw it in one LFS in a display tank but the Lfs guy is not willing to sell even a single plant. Will offer him 100 bucks for one plant and see what happens
Anyways thanks for reply.

You can find lots of youtube video's for different carpet plants. In my experience if you want a good looking planted tank there is no way to do it cheaply. Either go for a low tech setup or a high tech setup. The inbetween will not work for novices.
If you want to limit growth by reducing light or co2, you will need a lot of experience or guidance or you will end up with fish soup.

Thanks for the reply preeths.
You see, I am in 12th. My parents do not fund my tank ( cuz they think it distracts me from my studies and they are right). I have to get everything from whatever money I save, most of which I spend on my garden and books. After this, whatever meager amount is left, I spend on my aquarium.
Moreover, getting aquatic plants in jaipur is really difficult. Only two Lfs keep aquatic plants and only one of them sells A.plants. I think it charges very high amount of money ( 50 rs for a single DHG plant, 50 for a cm long stem of Hydrocotyl Tripartita, 100 for 1 crypt, 350 for very small anubia nana and 450 for a rhizom of java fern with 5 leaves).
So I cannot achieve a good looking planted tank. I m just sequeezing the maximum utilisation of whatever is availble to me.
I will however try set up a good looking planted tank after I complete my 12th, with some store bought substrate, Led lights, pressurised CO2 and fertz available in the market. Till then, Ill have to make do from whats available to me.
By the way, I wasnt planning to limit plant growth by reducing lighting. Here is my tank-https://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=5CHyG0k2GYs not very beautiful but I still love it.
