I am planning for a marine setup with inverts. Can anybody suggest a good commercially available biological substrate. How about the ones from EHEIM?After much pondering i have decided to go for a sump.My plan is to separate the mechanical and the biological filtration.Mechanical through the 2217 and biological through the trickle filter.

If you are going for an invert setup , you can use LR as bio filtration. You can run the mechanical filtration in the sump and eliminate the canister filter.
Good substrates are fine grained coral sand - generally available, or aragonite - hard to get.
