I have a 3 x 1.5 x 1.5 tank and it has been running for last 9 months. Lasy friday mid night, suddenly it developed a leak 4-5 inch from the top. Fortunately, it was discoved quickly and I drained half of the water to stop leaking.
Close look revealed that it was not leak but the join between the side and front pan just came off and there is no silicon put betwen the pans. Only silicon is present in the inner side of the join
Temporariy I put some silicon there and tried to fill the leak. I have to fill the water the check it;s working or not. But I decided to rebuild the tank of my own ( no longer now rely lfs man).
But still I am wondering how come one can build a tank just putting silican over the edges only !!!

Since I am planning to rebuild my tank, I thought of building a new tank also with it. Still home ministry is not aware of it, but I am optimist
I went through all the forum threads and the 2 articles on tank building and here is the rough plan...
1. Purpose: Planted tank
2. Dimensiones: 30x18x21 (lxbxh). it came from the ariticle by Madan. He suggested this dimension as we can use 2 feet philips true light easily with lower lighting cost.
3. Glass thickness: 8mm(??). Do we really need 8 mm or 6 mm is more than enough ?? please suggest.
4.Silicon : either Duo corning's glass sealent or Wacker's elastosil ( of course if I get any one of them !!!)
Please velidate if these are fine enough and also add if necessary.
