 Hi,
Recently  before  couple  of  months  I  purchased  a  pair  of  ordinary  bronze  corry  cats. They  seem  to  be  doing  fine  in  my  community  planted  setup  digging  around  the  debris.
But  for  some  reason  one  of  them  was  growing  faster  than  the  other  and  I  thought  I  was  lucky  to  get  a  pair  since  females  are  usually  plumpier.

Suddenly  3-4  days  back  the  smaller  one  developed  kind  of  a  bulge  in  the  stomach  and  started  to  drift  towards  the  surface  losing  balance  often.I  isolated  the  fish  and  added  a  pinch  of  rock  salt(half  the  dose  since  these  were  scale  less  fishes)  and  heavily  aerated  the  water.Incidently  I  had  to  be  away  from  my  home  for  3-4  days  so  this  fish  wasn't  fed  as  well.Today  when  I  returned  morning,  the  quarantined  corry  showed  normal  body  without  the  abdomen  bulge  and  was  scanvening  the  tank  floor.

Does  someone  have  any  idea  what  this  is?  Is  my  corry  normal  now  to  go  back  into  community  setup?  Will  this  repeat  again?

Sounds  like  it  had  some  internal  digestion  problems  which  was  solved  due  to  the  starvation.

It's  good  practice  to  starve  fish  periodically  (for  a  day  per  week)  to  help  them  cleanse  their  system.

your  Cory  should  be  fine  to  go  back  Smile

 All  the  best

Looks  like  a  case  of  swim  bladder  disorder.

Usual  remedy  is  no  food  for  3  days  and  feeding  boiled  and  deskinned  peas  after  fasting.

Preventive  measures  are  feeding  dapahina  and  not  to  rely  on  pelleted  food  as  the  only  source.  If  pelleted  food  is  the  only  choice  you  have  do  not  feed  the  fish  for  a  day  in  a  week.
