I have a quartet of angels ranging from 1 cm to 2 cm size. They are feeding well on micropellets and growing.
However I am hoping to wean them on to a more varied and nutritious diet. I tried a shrimp mix as below:
1 cup shelled shrimp
1 cup parboiled peas
about half a teaspoonful of unflavoured gelatin dissolved in a small quantity of hot water
I figured I would add the fancy stuff after getting the basics right.
Standard procedure for mixing and freezing in plastic freezer bags.
Now my problem is that the mix is too coarse - the angels would gobble it up and then spit out the stuff after about 3-5 minutes of really thoughtful chewing (you have seen that thoughtful look fishes get when they chew?). I tried a thinner paste but you all know what happens - the mix started to disperse into the water.
Any workarounds - other than a suggestion to buy bigger angels. There were hundreds of these buggers in the LFS and my wife ... you know the story.

Deepesh I have grown angels of same size to breeding size in about 6-8 months.
I fed them tetra bits, you can powder them for juvinles of that size, just alternate it with live feed every then & now. Change to pellets, flakes for variety.
Using this diet i have successfully bred them unfortunatley the eggs did not hatch.
I have never tried any DIY food, other than boiled peas & spinach for goldies, it is too much wotk for me.
What I am trying to say is that you actually don't need to go through all that trouble, but you will have to get the propotion of gelatine just right to arrive at a consistancy to suit you.
