 hi  guys,

i  have  a  question  i  have  noticed  some  white  thing  growing  vastly  on  my  betta  tank  glass,  today  i  noticed  closely  with  the  help  of  magnifying  glass,  what  that  white  thing  is,  i  was  shocked  when  i  saw  that  its  a  small  white  color  worm  growing  vastly  in  my  betta  tank  what  to  do  any  idea  Â now  i  scraped  my  glass  and  did  50%  wc  and  added  1teaspoon  salt  is  it  fine?  don't  know  why  but  i  think  this  is  due  to  still  water  or  non-moving  water,  how  will  it  be  if  i  add  an  air  pump  just  for  some  circulation.  what  you  people  say  ?  or  shall  i  add  any  filteration??

 Hey!!!
Just  check  if  the  white  thing  goes  off  with  the  addition  of  salt,  Maintain  the  salt  concentrations  the  same  with  water  changes.  Chaning  the  water  twice  a  week  is  also  better.
Let  us  know  if  your  Betta  has  lost  its  appatite.  Put  on  the  air  pump,  I  do  not  think  that  you  need  a  filteration  if  its  a  lone  guy  in  the  tank.

Just  wondering  whether  these  micro  worm-like  parasites  can  be  fed  to  fish  fry?  Any  lights?

If  these  are  planaria  -  white,  about  3  -  5  mm,  sliding/gliding  on  the  glass  surface  -  then  fry  will  not  have  these.

Perhaps  these  are  best  not  kept  in  fry  tanks.  Planaria  are  not  predators  but  there  are  stories  of  them  eating  fry.  On  the  other  hand  planaria  usually  indicate  water  with  high  organic  content  -  not  the  best  quality  water.

 Hi  Raghu

Flatworms  are  of  three  types  (old  classification  though):
 Planaria  -  free  living
 Flukes  -  parasites
 Tapeworms  -  parasites

 Related  but  not  the  same!!

I  do  not  have  knowledge  on  salt  affecting  money  plant,  May  be  you  can  separate  it  out  if  you  feel  it  risky...
I  do  not  think  that  Air  pump  would  stop  the  growth  of  worms,  But  the  movement  could  distract  the  growth  and  would  help  if  they  are  weeds.

Also  during  medication  it  would  help  your  fish.

As  Deepesh  mentioned,  it  is  proabbly  planaria.  They  are  not  dangerous  to  your  fish  but  indicate  high  organic  content  in  the  water.

Do  not  add  any  medicines  if  your  fish  is  not  ill.
Do  regular  50%  water  changes  with  aged  water  at  the  same  temperature  -  once  in  2/3  days.
 Do  not  overfeed.
 Add  salt.

Over  the  next  2  weeks  they  should  disappear.

Your  money  plant  will  not  suffer.  If  it  does,  you  can  always  pull  it  out  and  put  it  in  fresh  water  till  the  tank  is  clean  of  "worms"

Add  an  airstone  for  aeration  by  all  means  but  keep  it  hanging  near  the  surface  and  keep  the  bubbling  to  a  low  rate.

 Regards,
 Venkat

I  thought  money  plants  are  terristial  plants.
If  in  a  4g  tank,  there  is  a  money  plant  along  with  betta,  the  free  space  will  be  very  less
