here  i  have  a  question  that  if  i  add  some  of  these  plants  then  do  i  need  some  hard  lighting  or  a  10watt  hitachi  pink  flourecent  light  will  be  enough,  according  to  watt  per  gallon  rule  i  have  2.5  watts  per  gallon....

any  reply  would  be  appreciated  Smile

Crypts  &  anubias  will  be  okay  in  this  light.  Ferns  I  don't  know.  Grass  will  need  more  light,

More  info  on  the  exact  size  and  shape  would  give  a  better  idea  on  what  could  go  in.

As  Sandeep  mentioned,  Crypts  and  Anubias  should  be  okay.  Ferns  might  be  okay  depending  on  how  tall  the  tank  is.

At  a  height  of  just  7",  I  doubt  if  you  could  manage  to  grow  anything  at  all  !!

At  most  you  will  have  4"  for  plants.  I  suggest  you  go  in  for  a  small  piece  of  driftwood  and  have  a  single  root  of  anubias.  Spread  only  1cm  of  gravel  or  sand  on  the  bottom  to  remove  the  barebottom  effect.

With  a  pink  fluorescent  you  wont  be  giving  your  plants  the  best  chance.

Like  Suraj  said  -  your  tank  height  is  too  less  for  most  plants.  If  you  change  your  light  to  a  6500  I  would  suggest  some  ceratophyllum  to  go  with  the  anubias.  Grows  floating,  2.5  wpg  is  just  about  ok  for  it  and  your  betta  will  like  it.

i  am  planning  to  add  Dwarf  Anubias,  Afzeli  Anubias,  crypts,  Hairgrass  any  of  these  plants  as  on  googling  i  found  these  plants  are  hardy  and  will  grow  in  any  light.....

now  i  want  to  ask  wether  i  need  to  add  any  nutrients  to  this  plants  and  as  this  is  my  first  time  with  adding  plants  i  need  some  details  for  keeping  this  plants  like  wether  they  will  grow  in  normal  white  pebbles  or  pots,  what  type  of  substrate  i'll  need  etc.  Smile

and  what  did  you  mean  by  floating

By  floating  I  meant  it  doesn't  have  to  be  planted.  Ceratophyllum  is  a  stem  plant  that  does  fine  simply  floating  around  in  the  water.

most  of  these  plants  will  need  substrate.
However  as  others  have  pointed  out  the  height  of  tank  is  too  less  for  most  of  plants.
If  you  put  in  substrate  of  at  least  2  inches  the  height  of  water  column  would  be  5  inches,  I  doubt  if  any  plant  would  be  able  to  grow  in  this.
Please  do  not  dose  any  pmdd  or  co2  in  this  tank.  it  is  too  small.
Best  put  in  some  plastic  plants  Very Happy

Ceratophyllum  will  grow  in  the  water  without  any  planting.

Anubias  and  Java  ferns  will  grow  on  driftwood  without  any  substrate.  Keep  in  mind  though  that  Java  ferns  will  outgrow  your  tank.

Most  other  plants  will  need  a  good  substrate.  Laterite  (or  other  mineral  soil)  and  gravel  layered  on  top.
