 Hi  bbxx,

My  lobster  loves  tubifix  worms/  blood  worms/  beefheart  +  shrimp  (with  shell)  mixture.
[Make  sure  you  have  a  tight  fitting  cover  or  have  your  tank  filled  only  to  half.  They  just  crawl  out.  I  lost  one  like  that  2  weeks  back  :-(  ]

 Regards,
 Prasoon

Wow!  I  dint  know  that  they  are  so  easy  to  keep,  can  they  live  along  with  some  tiger  barbs  and  medium  sized  SA  cichlids?  What  are  the  smallest  sized  lobsters  available  for  aquariums?

 Hi  Hamza,

They  are  indeed  very  easy  to  keep  and  colorful  when  you  have  a  couple  of  them  in  the  same  tank.  Its  interesting  to  watch  them  fighting  and  show  off!!!

These  guys  are  pretty  vulnerable  when  molting.  So  keeping  it  with  aggressive  fish  like  cichlids  may  not  be  advisable.  I  keep  them  with  gold  fish/loaches  and  some  prawns  and  all  seems  doiing  well.

 Regards,
 Prasoon

Basant  ............  I  know  which  lobster  do  you  have.  Go  on  with  TetraBits,  no  problem.  You  can  also  feed  them  chopped  market  prawns,  but  as  per  your  religious  probelm,  you  cant.  Â Chuckle  Â poor  guy  Â Cheer Up

 Hi  Babu,

Nope,  Lobsters  mentioned  above  are  fresh  water  cray  fish.  Check  out  this  link  from  Trevor.

I  just  have  a  big  convict  and  a  pair  of  firemouths  in  a  30  gallon  tank,  is  it  advisable  to  add  a  lobster  in  such  a  small  tank,  I  dont  want  to  add  two  of  them  I  have  seen  some  of  them  loosing  arms  at  the  lfs,  while  fighting.
 Are  they  scavengers  too??

 Hamza,

Firemouths  are  surely  agressive  for  your  lobster.
You  can  have  many  if  you  have  many  hiding  spaces.  Having  many  in  one  tank  would  be  fun  to  watch  with  the  dominant  ones  showing  off.

They  are  scavengers,  they  do  eat  left  over  fish  foods  and  even  dead  fish.  They  need  to  be  given  rich  calcium  suppliments  like  market  prawns  once  in  a  while.

 Regards,
 Prasoon

Hi.  Its  a  lobster  or  fresh  water  cray  fish  ?  If  its  a  cray  fish  you  can  feed  any  sinking  food  including  pellets, meat, prawns  or  even  smaller  feeder  fishes  like  baby  gold  fish, guppies  etc.I  do  not  know  much  about  Lobster(marine  fish)  because  I  have  not  kept  it.

 Hi  bbxx,
It  would  have  been  nice  to  call  you  by  your  real  name.

There  are  two  types  of  lobsters  that  i  have  seen  and  close  friends  have  kept
 1.Blue  (  Australian  Yabbie)
 2.  Red

The  blue  is  seen  to  be  a  opportunist  carnivore  and  will  eat  anything  from  fish  fry  to  earthworms.  live  food  makes  them  grow  faster.

REQUESTING  MR.  TREVOR  TO  POST  A  PICTURE  HERE

Gerry  keeps  his  blue  lobsters  in  a  6feet  wide  x  2  feet  high  cement  ring.

He  started  with  six  adults  about  5-6  months  ago  and  now  he  has  about  50  t0  sixty  fry.

The  Fry  seem  to  be  vegetarian  for  about  four  to  six  weeks  and  then  seem  to  be  eating  all  other  stuff  later  on.  The  fry  in  the  pictures  are  about  4  weeks  old  and  about  an  1inch  in  size.

The  Reds  Seem  to  be  more  on  the  vegetarian  side.

REQUESTING  MR.  TREVOR  TO  POST  A  PICTURE  HERE

Gerry  keeps  his  Red  lobsters  in  a  8feet  wide  x  1  feet  high  cement  ring.

Excuse  the  quality  of  the  pictures  as  they  were  taken  from  my  Mobile.

 Thanks  Rocky

The  lobster  is  about  2.5''  in  length  and  reddish  in  colour  and  seems  to  be  fairly  aggressive  and  lurches  at  everything. Can  you  identify  it.
