Sorry  forgot  to  mention..  its  for  my  marine  aquarium  since  the  calcium  in  the  synthetic  salt  precepitating  if  i  mix  it  with  the  existing  tap  water.

 For  your  help:

 http://www.kent.co.in/index.html

I  am  posting  an  email  communication  of  a  sales  man  and  me.  This  might  be  useful  for  you  as  well:

Quote:
I  am  interested  in  purchasing  the  DWP-1  (Domestic  Water  Purifier  (Basic))
but  I  have  a  few  questions  about  it  before  I  do  so...
It  would  be  helpful  if  you  could  answer  them  with  regards  to  this  product
and  also  is  it  possible  for  me  to  buy  this  somewhere  in  Pune...?

 1.  What  is  the  %  Recovery,  that  means  how  much  RO  water  will  be  generated  for  a  given  volume  of  water?
 30  %  Pure  water
 70  %  Drain  Water

 2.  What  is  the  level  of  Salt  Rejection:How  much  Salt  will  be  rejected  thru  this  process.  eg  from  2000ppm  to  about  ....ppm?

If  your  input  water  is  around  2000  PPM  then  you  will  get  upto  60  to  80  PPM  of  pure  water

   3.  Membrane  type  and  its  service  life  expectancy.  Can  you  replace  the  membrane  or  have  to  reject  the  total  unit  after  its  service  life?

Membrane  life  is  approx  1.5  to  2  Years  in  2000  PPM,  we  replace  only  membrane  after  its  service  life.

 4.  What  is  the  service  life  to  replace  the  membrane  and  for  the  unit....?

Service  life  of  sediment  filters  is  3  months  and  membrane  is  around  2  years.

 5.  Any  warranty  offered  on  the  product....?

One  Year  Warranty  On  every  part  of  the  equipment  Like  filters  Membrane  Pump  Valves  etc.

 Hope  it  helps.
 Cheers...

..true  thats  why  I  havent  gone  for  one.
..I  needed  softer  water  for  a  Freshwater  (Diccus)  tank,  but  now  I  am  using  2  bags  of  peat  (Ehiem's)  in  my  filter  and  it  did  serve  my  purpose.
..but  I  dont  know  about  Marines.  I  dont  think  they  could  be  used.

I  was  in  touch  with  a  Delhi  manufacturer  of  RO  units  a  while  back.
Minimum  order  of  5  units  put  it  off  for  me.
If  you  guys  are  interested  in  a  group  buy,  let  me  know.  I  can't  remember  the  exact  price,  but  it  was  either  Rs  5000/-  or  Rs  6000/-  for  a  15  lph  unit.

Specs  are  similar  to  the  Kent  home  unit.

MODS  :  please  let  the  price  stay  as  it  is  MSRP,  not  quoted  by  me.
