 Folks,

I  have  decided  to  stack  up  2  three  footer  aquariums  in  a  mini  rack  or  stand  one  on  top  of  the  other.

Please  advise  on  how  to  go  about  it  and  what  specs  should  i  be  giving  to  the  welding  guy.

Anything  else  I  should  consider  before  I  go  for  it.

 Cheers,
 Prem

 Hi  Prem,

 1.  What  are  the  Aquarium  dimensions?
 2.  At  what  height  would  you  like  to  place  the  first  aquarium?
 3.  Bare  bottom  or  with  substrate  &  rocks?
 4.  Glass  thickness?

Things  to  consider  -  Later   Smile

5mm  thick  L  angles  at  1.5"  width,  4  legs  would  suffice.  I  use  this  on  my  4  foot  bare  bottom  tanks.

The  two  tanks  are  grower  tanks  and  will  not  have  much  of  of  substrate.

Each  tank  is  3x1.5x1.5  with  6  mm  glass.

I  suggest  you  go  in  for  8  mm  glass,  Prem.  6mm  at  3'  length  is  asking  for  trouble.  Stick  to  5mm,  1.5"  L  angles  and  suitable  heights  as  required  by  you.

Suraj,  48x18x18  inch  tank  made  with  just  6mm  glass  are  like  hot  cake  in  Calcutta  market,  very  fast  selling.  Even  I  also  have  3  nos  of  48x18x18  inch  tank  made  with  6mm  only.
 No  problem  at  all.  Smile

I  am  just  waiting  to  hear  about  floods  in  Kolkata.  Â Chuckle

With  a  4-year  old  at  home,  I  wouldn't  dare  you  use  6mm  on  3  footers  unless  the  height  was  12".

In  addition  also  get  a  center  support  on  each  shelf  (front-to-back),  better  Smile
Consider  some  decent  space  for  netting  the  fish.

same  plans  here  but  planning  to  rack  3  three  footers  one  upon  the  other...
most  probably  bottom  rack  will  house  nanos  and  grow  out  tanks
other  ones  would  be  a  planted  one  would  be  a  ciahlid  tank(  u  know  what  a  chchlid  tank  will  have  as  substrate  and  decoration/)
i  need  advices  on  the  type  of  "L"  angles  should  i  use  and  where  shall  i  place  the  cichlid  tank...  and  important  of  all...  how  much  of  head  space  should  i  leave????
