I  think  the  long  hunt  is  over  for  me.  Yesterday  I  found  society  admins  change  the  Fire  Extinguishers  from  the  powdered  one  to  actual  CO2  cylinder  in  each  and  every  floor.  And  I  got  the  contacts  from  where  I  can  get  them.  So  now,  I  am  all  set  to  opt  for  a  pressurized  cylinder.  But  only  issue  I  am  facing,  in  Gurgaon  there  is  no  place  to  get  Food  Grade  CO2  but  the  commercial  one  what  is  being  used  for  fire  extinguishers.

If  I  use  commercial  grade  CO2  for  planted  tank,  is  there  any  negative  effect?

Commercial  grade  CO2  is  99%  pure.
 Food  Grade  is  99.5%  pure.
 Medical  Grade  is  99.9%  Pure.

The  food  you  eat  has  more  contaminants.

How  about  using  a  soda  maker,  make  2L  of  soda  every  day  and  pour  it  into  the  tank.  you  will  do  a  WC  as  well  as  add  CO2.  This  idea  has  been  on  my  mind  for  some  time.....dont  know  if  it  will  work  though!
 experts  any  insights?????

 Tirtha,

Do  you  think  the  contact  you  found  in  delhi  will  have  a  branch  in  Mumbai?

Then  I  could  check  it  out  too.

If  you  don't  mind  could  you  please  PM  me  the  price  and  the  capacity?  I  am  coming  to  Delhi  next  week....just  may  get  tempted  to  buy  one  too!!!

perhaps  if  more  IAHians  are  interested  we  could  do  a  combine  order  and  get  a  discount?

Anand,  Mumbai  is  far  far  better  city  than  Gurgaon.  Just  get  any  yellow  pages  and  search  for  Industrial  Gas  supplier.  You  can  find.  CO2  cylinder  is  a  heavy  one  and  it's  better  to  get  it  locally.  Till  Now  I  didn't  call  them  up  so  not  sure  about  the  price.

@Thanks  Madan  Sir.  Now  I  can  go  for  a  bigger  and  better  planted  tank.  Smile

 Hey  Anand,

If  you  are  interested  for  CO2  setup  then  you  can  contact  Metro  Gas,  its  in  sakinaka  Andheri(E),  in  the  building  of  Mainland  China.  the  rates  are  quite  good.  I  got  my  4.5kg  from  there  &  have  got  the  Needle  Valve  regulators  &  CO2  reactor  form  Aquadeep(Deepak  Brid)  Very Happy  .  From  What  I've  heard  &  to  which  Madan  Sir's  post  reconfirms  that  it's  better  to  go  for  Medical  Grade  CO2.  &  this  Metro  Gas  fellow  give  medical  grade.  &  guess  what  he  knows  that  CO2   is  required  in  a  planted  tank  &  also  supplies  to  a  lot  of  LFs'  in  Mumbai.  I'm  unable  to  find  the  nos.  i've  kept  it  some  place  will  surely  post  asap.  Crying or Very sad

 Thirtha  ,

I  have  used  both  types  ,  Commercial  and  Food  Grade  and  below  are  the  details.  There  is  hardly  any  difference  in  both  when  it  comes  to  Planted  Tanks..

 1.  Commercial  Grade  --  Price  is  a  little  lower  ,  gives  u  a  smell.
 2.  Food  Grade   --  Price  is  a  little  high  ,  There  is  no  smell.

You  can  use  both.  no  problems  at  all.

 Regds

Do  not  wait  to  get  the  smell,  sweet  or  funny.  Check  the  joints  and  fittings  for  bubbles  with  a  dilute  solution  of  liquidised  soap  if  in  doubt.

You  can  get  CO2  cylinders  easily  in  Bombay.  There's  Sanghi  Oxygen  in  MIDC  Andheri-e  and  Bombay  CO2  in  Malad-e
