Hello  everyone,

How  do  we  know  if  the  fishes  are  happy?

What  could  be  their  feelings  about  living  in  a  "  glass  tub"?

Is  it  socially  right  to  captivate  these  loving  beings  for  our  needs?

 Lets  debate  this....its  quite  provocative.....

My  O  My.......  Trevor,  you  should  be  called  terror!....  "terrible"  post  Thumb Up  Â Clapping  Â ROFL  Â ROFL  Â ROFL  Â ROFL

Wonderful  example,  poor  cows,  being  brought  after  effectively  coercing,  (sorry,  just  kidding).

Well,  I  say  that  there  is  no  harm  in  keeping  fishes  as  pets.  Only  that,  the  keepers  should  be  kind  and  loving.  They  become  family  after  some  time...

Recently,  I  just  saved  a  red  cap,  with  the  help  of  IAH  members  guidance.  Its  is  a  job  of  patience  to  heal  a  pet  without  a  doctor.  Its  realy  painstaking,  but  its  family  now......

Today  morning,  I  saw  that,  the  fish  was  realy  happy  and  was  swimming  very  casualy.  Its  bouyancy  was  badly  affected,  it  had  dropsy,  ich  and  obviously  lots  of  stress.  I  feel  so  happy  and  contented  to  see  this  scenario.

Anyway  Thanks  IAH  and  also  thanks  MAS  too...  you  helped  save  life....

Its  about  cured  now....  I  have  to  wait  untill  it  starts  feeding....

 kind  regds

I  can't  understand  Human  psychology  leave  alone  fishy  one's.  Very Happy
Some  one  like  Mukesh  Ambani  is  not  content  with  even  wealth  which  might  exceed  GDP  of  some  countires,  one  the  other  hand  is  a  shopkeeper  near  my  factory  who  has  gone  on  "bharat  darshan"  and  closed  his  shop  for  next  one  month.  (he  is  non  commital  about  loss  of  profit  for  one  whole  month.)
IMO  as  long  as  you  can  care  for  your  pets,  it  is  okay  to  keep  them,  and  to  make  it  sure  they  are  okay,  you  need  to  take  pains  to  learn  more  about  them.

The  more  correct  question  in  my  opinion  would  be
How  do  I  know  if  my  Fish  are  healthy?

Thanks  Saurabhbhai  and  lots  others  have  argued  it  too,  but  I  dig  what  aquahobby  has  stated  in  justification,  as  it  has  appropriately  pointed  out  "  FEAR  OF  SURVIVING/SURVIVAL"  is  the  main  thing,  rest  is  all  compromise.  Plus,  the  site  has  also  indicated,  only  "Humans"  think  in  such  patterns.

If  we  think  deeply,  even  mankind  has  the  fear  of  survival.  Dont  we  close  the  doors  after  we  reach  home?  we  lock  ourselves  every  night,  check  twice  if  we  have  locked  ourselves  from  unsocial  harms....

So,  we  are  eliminating  the  "instinctive"  fears  of  the  fish  and  thats  why  logically  we  are  not  doing  anything  cruel.
