 Hi  All,

Anybody  have  any  experience  in  keeping  Pseudomugil.  I  have  searched  on  net  but  was  not  able  to  find  much  detail  about  them.

I  have  received  12  Pseudomugil  Ivantsoffi  eggs  on  last  Monday  from  a  breeder  in  USA.  As  of  now  6  eggs  are  hatched  &  are  free  swimming.  I  am  feeding  BBS  3  times  a  day  with  occasionally  giving  crushed  flake.  I  have  kept  them  in  small  2  gal  tank  with  1  teaspoon  of  salt  (This  is  what  that  breeder  has  told  me).  Temp  is  maintained  at  around  24-26  C.

 Ivanstoffi  Wink

Who  did  you  get  them  from?  There  aren't  too  many  people  selling  eggs  of  this  species  right  now.  A  friend  of  mine  brought  some  back  from  PNG  about  4  years  ago,  which  is  the  source  of  most  fish  in  the  American  hobby  right  now.

There  are  threads  on  Pseudomugil  care  on  the  forum.

I  would've  picked  an  easier  species,  though,  if  you  have  no  experience  with  this  genus.

I  got  it  from  a  dealer  who  has  put  them  on  sale  on  Aquabid.com.

I  have  never  kept  any  Pseudomugil  sp.  nor  i  have  seen  it  before  so  I  thought  to  buy  them.  Paid  a  heavy  price  to  get  them.

That  dealer  has  sent  the  care  sheet  for  care  &  breeding  of  Pseudomugil  Ivantsoffi  along  with  the  eggs  right  now  Im  following  it  but  want  to  know  the  experince  of  other  hobbyist.

Wish  you  all  the  best.  You  were  dreaming  about  the  species  for  a  long  and  now  you  have  got  them.  So  I  will  keep  my  fingure  crossed  on  fry  raising.  And  as  I  have  already  told  you,  4  of  them  are  prebooked  for  my  nano.  Very Happy

How  about  dropping  a  mail  to  those  youtube  guys  who  are  keeping  the  species  for  a  long  time??  Something  helpfull  we  may  get.

That  usually  is  not  a  good  reason  to  acquire  new  fish.  That  said,  move  the  fry  to  a  10  gallon  tank  with  a  sponge  filter  and  feed  a  few  times  a  day  with  bbs.  Expect  high  mortalities  if  there  is  insufficient  food  or  too  much  uneaten  food.  They  will  grow  to  about  an  inch  in  4-6  months.

Kaushik,  they  are  uncommon  in  the  hobby  because  the  people  who  have  managed  to  breed  them  produce  mostly  males.

 P.  signifer  happened  to  breed  in  my  cement  tank,  some  months  back.  Yes,  these  grow  much  slower  than  the  other  commonly  available  Rainbow  species.

Bhaskar  could  not  post  pictures  as  he  does  not  have  Camera.  Now  he  got  a  D450  last  monday.  So  we  can  expect  pictures  coming  in.   Thumb Up
