Hi there, first question :-)
So I have a 40x13x18 inch tank, the idea is to be planted and checking what will grow and what won't.
I bought SunSun ADE 900c LED lights which says 60W on it (there is no lumen rating or PAR values available on net). I am not sure if this is enough. Here is what I found, the rotala rotundifolia hi red seems to be growing (needle leaves with red tint started developing in about 3 weeks). The substrate I must say is pretty inert (like about 5 years old). Have Co2, 1 bubble per sec.
Is this fixture any good ? Also, is there a cheat sheet which is straight forward for the off-the shelf light fixtures ? |

It should be enough, they are quite effective and good lights.
In the current Indian market there is nothing as successful as SunSun ADS/ADE so you might not really have tough choice to make. |

Appreciate your time Saikumar. I guess this is the best for now unless we start custom building. I am planning on a 4 feet tank as well, with ads 1050c lights. I hope I get it to carpet at least with hair grass. Will update. |

You're welcome. Bad thing about custom builds is the high costs, warranty and looks.
1050 should be good, people recommend ADS over ADE for better intensity. It surely must be more than sufficient to grow majority of plants in our hobby.
Do share some pics when you get a chance of your 40" tank. |

Hello friends, as a follow up question. I'm setting up a new tank next week, would you help see if anything odd out of place ?
Tank - 48x18x18.
Substrate - ada amazonia soil (1 bag, just at bottom) and tropica plant soil (most bags) - the thought process was not to have a full ammonia bloom as I read before.
Scape:- Dragon stone (big ones, and small ones - thinking canyon :-) )
Co2 - pressurized.
Lights - SunSun ADS-1050c (80w in wattage).
Plants:- ( have ordered all) - I'm not sure about the light needs, but wanted denser planting in one go.
Background:-
Limnophila Aromatica (Purple) (15)
Ludwigia Inclinata var Cuba (10)
Ludwigia Arcuata (15)
Rotala Rotundifolia Red - bulk(200 nos)
Rotala Rotundifolia Green - bulk(200 nos)
Rotala Rotundifolia Hi Red (50)
Alternanthera Reineckii (15)
MidGround:-
Staurogyne Repens (10)
Ludwigia palustris
Alternanthera Reineckii mini (10) - not too sure with the lighting I have.
ForeGround:-
Hemianthus Micranthemoides monte carlo (bulk)-4 Nos
For rocks:-
Java Moss
Java Fern
Post initial weeks - ferts with DI and do have some NPK from Seachem as well.
Appreciate your time and valuable feedback..
Cheers, Rajesh T Sivanandan |

Sounds like a good plan. Start fertilizing after two weeks of regular large water changes. CO2 at3-4 bps depending on your diffuser. For NPK switch to EI ferts, it will be more economical for a large tank in the long run. Micros you can continue with Seachem or CSMB if available |

Thanks Mortis. Appreciate you looking at it. The plants just arrived and I have planted them all. Looks dense for now :-)
Oh yeah, I have EI ferts as well (Procured from Shreejith) - will be using that on a frequent basis.

One small flaw though.. the stones marked dose'nt sink well with other stones, make them lean towards right a bit..

Sure Nidhi, I'll open up a new thread.
Actually that stone - I kept it that way to create a triangular pocket for S. Repens and be bushier there. Does it look that odd ? If I make it leaning towards right, it kind of falls and I need to find a smaller stone (ran out of the whole 20 kilos':-) )
