Hi Rony,

So you mean to say that CRS will eat away the fungus? if its the case, then i'll let it be and wont treat the driftwood.
i'll just untie the moss because, I'm not sure of the availability of coarse salt and the apple snail variant you mentioned here.
Will keep wiping the fungus as Madan Sir suggested to keep it in check.

Regards,
Saurav

Thanks Madan Sir for the reply.
So i assume wiping/scrubbing the driftwood will be good enough and is nothing to worry about.

PostForum: Invertebrates   Posted: Wed Jan 19, 2011 7:26 pm   Subject: Help : white slime/fungi in CRS tank. good or bad?
Hi,

I recently have setup a CRS (Crystal Red Shrimp) tank with driftwood and moss.
After 4 days of putting in the driftwood, noticed a white slime/fungi film forming on the driftwood ( few portions where moss isn't tied).
The driftwood seemed to be treated and has leached no tannins at all till now.

Read on internet, the cure is to boil the wood and fungi will go away. But at the same time read they aren't harmful at all and go away with time.
Just wanted to ask, will it be a problem with the CRS?

Should i bother to remove it by boiling or let it go away on its own?

Thanks & Regards,
Saurav

Hi,

I am looking for black substrate (not for planted tank though) in Bangalore.
Which would be a good substrate (sand or small chips etc)?

Saurav
