 Dear  ALL,

I  had  run  two  different  threads  on  my  Copper  Oscars.  In  one  I  had  mentioned  that  they  were  not  eating  and  had  asked  for  help  and  in  the  other  thread,  I  had  put  some  medication  in  my  tank  (because  of  some  white  patches  on  my  oscars)  and  had  asked  for  help.  I  am  starting  this  new  thread  with  pics  and  video  of  my  oscars.

The  water  color  in  my  tank  (which  turned  green  on  Thursday  after  adding  medication)  has  almost  returned  back  to  normal  (thanks  to  my  new  eheim  filter).  As  suggested  by  some  of  you  folks,  I  had  maintained  the  water  temperature  @  30  deg  Cels.  The  white  patches  on  the  oscars  have  also  gone  to  a  great  extent.

Pls  have  a  look  at  the  pics  below  and  also  the  video  link  (unfortunately,  the  video  clarity  is  not  very  good)  and  let  me  know  if  I  still  need  to  worry  about  them  and  if  there  is  anything  else  I  should  be  doing.

 Thanks  in  advance.

 Dear  rumasan
Your  oscars  babys  are  not  looking  healthy. What  are  you  feeding  to  them?  Try  for  any  live  food  like  feeder  guppyies  to  back  them  in   normal  conditions  and  follow  the  same  treatment  for  another  36  hours
 Regards
 Kaushik

These  look  like  tiger  oscars.  looks  undernourished.  the  white  spots  appear  after  an  injury.  good  water  quality  is  enough  to  bring  it  back  to  normal.

The  parrots  might  be  spooking  them  off.
They  defnitely  do  not  have  ick  it  looks  more  like  fungus  infection  on  injuries,  now  these  injuries  might  be  due  to  fight  with  parrots  or  amongst  themselves.
As  you  have  improved  the  filteration,  it  should  help,  as  the  bioload  is  quiet  heavy  in  your  tank.
I  don't  think  you  need  to  anything  than  change  water,  they  will  start  feeding  as  water  conditons  improve.
Further  some  instruments  in  your  tank  look  to  be  sharp,  they  can  easily  the  fish,  specially  the  water  wheel.

I  am  sorry  to  say,  but  these  are  looking  deformed,  and  you  cant  change  them  what  ever  you  do.  When  you  purchase  fish  you  must  keenly  observe,  select  the  healthy,  dominant  and  active  fish  and  net  them  out  yourself,  most  LFS(not  all)  try  to  clear  the  worst  out  of  lot  first.  If  possible  try  to  exchange  them  with  others  at  lfs.

Thanks  again  folks  for  your  inputs.

 Hamza,

Thanks  for  the  input.  As  I  am  new  to  this  hobby,  I  guess  I  got  cheated  on  this.  In  any  case,  I  still  love  them.

 Sandeep,

The  paarots  I  have  have  been  really  sweet.  They  get  along  really  well  with  the  Oscars.  The  Oscars  themselves  are  also  getting  along  well  without  fighting  with  each  other.  The  problem  was  there  mainly  with  a  pair  of  Green  Terror  and  Blue  Morphs  that  I  had  last  week.  The  Green  terror  especially  was  behid  the  oscars  and  kept  striking  them  again  and  again.  That  was  when  I  decided  to  return  both  the  Green  terror  and  the  BMs.  I  am  more  convinced  now  that  they  are  more  injured  than  infected  based  your  expert  opinions  from  here.

I  guess,  I  will  just  wait  and  see  how  things  go.

 Seetharam,

Even  I  have  been  having  my  doubts  on  whether  they  are  Copper  or  Tiger  Oscar.  The  LFS  that  sold  me  these  fish  told  me  that  they  were  Copper  and  he  also  told  me  that  they  were  imported  and  not  the  Indian  version.

 Dear  All,

As  I  was  going  through  this  post  and  I  wanted  to  know  how  the  copper  oscar  looked  so
I  did  some  bit  of  googling  around  and  found  this  site  which  had  some  pictures.

Hope  this  helps  to  all  the  people  who  have  not  seen  this  fish.

Below  is  a  list  of  pictures  of  different  types  of  oscars.

 Please  check  these  at

They  are  tiger  oscars  and  definitely  not  copper...
They  look  to  be  deformed  and  hence  they  are  also  looking  undernourished.
Well  undernourishment  problem  may  be  tackled  but  not  deformity...

For  me  they  also  look  feared..  what  are  their  tankmates  and  how  big  are  they? If  they  continue  to  be  feared,  they  would  not  eat,  which  will  make  things  even  worse...

Do  not  fear  parrots,  just  give  them  some  terrirory  to  hide...

 Green  Terror??  Hell  noooo....
