 Hi,

I  am  enclosing  the  ADA  tank  from  aquatica.  I  have  tried  to  faithfully  to  follow  the  golden  section  principles  in  setting  the  rocks,  as  explained  by  Madan.

If  I  have  made  any  errors  or  my  understanding  is  wrong  please  kindly  correct  me  with  reasoning.  Smile

The  first  photo  is  of  the  tank  set  on  10/07/08(  without  water)

 Regards,
 Nayak.

Nayak,  I  think  you  should  discard  these  rocks  and  go  for  ones  which  has  more  character.  I  mean,  lots  of  edges  with  uniform  direction  and  inclination  will  suit  your  scape  better.

Also,  go  for  uneven  number  of  rocks.  I  would  suggest  that  you  reduce  one  of  the  rocks  than  increasing  one.

 Hope  this  helps.

All  the  very  best  to  you.  Thumb Up

Nayak  how  about  trying  out  the  new  moss/algae  that  is  in  Karthik's  tank  to  cover  the  rocks?

It  will  do  a  better  job  than  the  moss.  I  have  a  few  bits  and  pieces  with  me,  you  can  attach  it  with  superglue  to  the  rocks  and  see.  If  it  works  then  it  will  be  good.

 Dear  Debarghya
If  nayak  go  for  the  ADA  rocks  it  will  cut  a  big  hole  in  his  pocket.Any  alternative  around  Bangaloru?  You  know  this  days  Chinese  and  local  manufacturers  in  Delhi  are  offering  ADA  looks  fibreglass  stones  which  looks  magnificient.  Checkout  the  following  Links

 Kaushik,  You  are  right...

I  did  not  mean  that  Nayak  should  go  for  ADA  stones,  but  I  am  sure  we  can  get  nearly  similar  looking  stones  in  our  vicinity  if  we  keep  our  eye  open  for  them.

Let's  look  at  the  ADA  stones  in  our  hands  first  before  going  around  looking  for  something  similar.   Very Happy

Ah....Im  just  waiting  for  the  pricing  on  the  ADA  products  to  be  released,  I  guess  Adip  had  said  he  will  do  it  by  this  week.

IMO  aged  granite  rock  (Black  in  Color)  looks  really  great,  have  seen  bolders  of  such  rocks  at  a  construction  site  near  my  house,  probably  they  dug  it  out  when  laying  the  foundation,  will  be  going  there  soon  with  a  hammer   Chuckle

Thanks  Madan,  yes  I  will  do  that.  I  will  first  try  with  the  three  bare  rocks  on  the  right.

 Debarghya,

I  think  I  have  used  uneven  number  of  rocks.  Two  on  one  side  and  three  on  the  other  totalling  to  five.
I  do  not  want  to  discard  these  rocks  for  they  were  used  for  demo  at  Aquatica  by  my  planted  Guru's  like  Madan,Adip  and  Deepak.
Any  way  let  me  attach  a  new  photo  taken  yesterday  29/07/08.

You  can  see  that  the  moss  has  started  growing.

But  is  my  placing  of  the  rocks  correct?

 Regards,
 Nayak.

 Hey  Nayak

The  rocks  do  look  good  in  this  picture.  I  am  no  expert  but  if  it  were  me,  of  the  2  rocks  on  the  left  hand  side,  i  would  move  the  one  in  front  a  bit  towrds  the  left  or  towards  the  right  so  that  50%  of  the  bottom  portion  of  the  rock  behind  is  seen.

Also  i  feel  that  the  biggest  rock  in  there  is  the  one  with  the  most  character,  would  be  beneficial  to  highlight  it,  as  of  now  i  feel  the  rock  in  front  of  it  is  covering  its  good  looks   Smile

Really  surprised  to  see  the  present  look.  Now  it  is  no  more  dull  looking  and  rejuvenated  moss  has  added  contrast.  Congrats  Nayak

 Kaushik

 Hi  Seetharam,

I  see  the  logic  behind  your  suggestion.  But  like  I  said  earlier  I  have  arranged  the  rocks  according  to  the  "Golden  section  or  Golden  Ratio".

 let  me  illustrate,

Now  how  do  I  move  the  rocks  without  effecting  the  ratio?

Please  feel  free  to  correct  me  if  I  have  made  any  mistakes.  Smile

 Regards,
 Nayak.

 Hi  Nayak

Frankly  ,  Im  not  aware  of  the  "Golden  section  or  Golden  Ratio"

I  was  purely  speaking  from  a  perspective  of  the  overall  look   Smile

 No  problem  Seetharam,

I  too  was  unaware  of  it  before  the  Aquatica  this  year.

The  reason  I  am  going  through  all  this  is  to  find  a  way  of  making  my  tank  look  pleasing.  I  have  seen  some  people  who  do  aquariums  casually  and  they  are  so  beautiful.

I  was  never  artistic  and  if  there  is  a  sure  method  scientifically  of  making  the  tank  look  beautiful  I  wanted  to  try  it  out.

Somehow  I  was  never  able  to  draw  same  sized  handles  on  a  vase  in  my  drawing  class  either.  Chuckle

 Regards,
 Nayak.
