 Hi,

I  have  seen  these  mono  coloured  backgrounds  pasted  on  the  rear  glass  of  tanks.

Would  like  to  know  what  are  these  made  of.  I  presume  they  are  either  Vinyl  or  Flex  material  of  LG  or  Hyundai  make.

Are  they  self  adhesive  and  where  can  I  procure  the  same  in  Mumbai  besides  LFSs.  ?

 Cheers

 Hi  Neelesh,

They  are  made  of  styrofoam  like  the  one  shown  below  and  there  are  some  which  are  made  with  acrylic.

 Thanks  Prem,

What  I  am  particularly  looking  for  is  a  waterproof  chart  paper.  Its  some  synthetic  material.  Saw  it  one  of  the  LFS.
I  don't  think  it  is  self  adhesive.  Meant  to  be  stuck  on  the  outside  of  the  glass  with  soap  water  solution.

I  want  a  matt  black  sheet  as  a  background  for  my  planted  tank.  Some  of  my  contacts  from  the  printing  industry  told  me  that  it  is  LG  vinyl  or  flex  which  is  available  in  varying  thickness  and  used  in  outdoor  banners/posters.  Will  have  to  do  some  hunting  around  to  figure  it  out

 Neelesh,

Easy  way.  Go  to  the  place  where  you  have  these  guys  making  stickers  for  cars/bikes  and  also  the  number  plates.

Check  with  them  where  the  wholesale  place  for  PVC  stickers  is.

 Then  go  and  get  it.

You  will  require  PVC,  as  vinyl  is  more  unforgiving.  PVC  can  be  sprayed  with  soap  water,  and  stuck.  You  can  make  your  final  adjustments  and  then  stick  it  properly,  ensuring  there  are  no  air  bubbles.  You  could  also  call  a  sticker  guy  home  to  do  it  for  you,  just  a  10  minute  job.  I  do  it  all  the  time,  for  most  of  my  setups.

The  Matt  Black  in  the  PVC  sticker  looks  real  good.  It  comes  with  adhesive.

Costs  me  10  to  11  bucks  a  sqft.

Its  available  in  a  breadth  of  4  feet.  I  use  the  same  stuff  to  stick  borders  on  the  front  glass  too.

If  your  tank  is  small,  you  could  carry  it  to  the  stickering  people  and  they  will  do  it  right  away  for  you.

Look  for  "Oyama"  Paper.  This  is  what  we  use  for  the  tank  background.  I  stick  it  to  the  outside  of  the  tank.  It's  available  in  a  number  of  colors  and  shades.

Do  a  google  for  India  distributors  and  dealers.

Can  these  stickers  be  removed  later  on  without  them  leaving  any  signs  ?

Yes.  They  can  simply  be  ripped  out.  The  glue  is  of  excellent  quality  that  does  not  leave  any  stains  behind  which  attract  dust.  Just  peel  the  sticker  off  and  you  have  good  clean  glass.

..are  these  the  same  stickers  that  car  decal  shops  sell??

I  have  always  contacted  them  for  whatever  size  and  color  I  want,  I  have  gotten  matte  black  strips  (sure  any  color  is  available),  and  these  are  quite  tough  and  water  proof  (they  are  designed  for  cars).
They  leave  no  stains  and  can  be  easily  ripped  away  too.
You  can  get  in  touch  with  any  car  decal  shop  for  these,  and  in  Bangalore  I  am  100%  sure  there  are  more  car  junkies  than  Pune.

 Have  a  nice  day.
 Cheers,
   Smile

Cant  the  matt  black  stickers  (which  they  usually  use  for  car  number  plates)  be  put  from  the  inside  of  the  tank  or  will  they  peel  of  with  exposure  to  water?
Also,  if  I  put  it  from  the  outside,  will  it  look  the  same  from  the  inside.?  (because  the  sticker  surface  is  what  will  be  visible  from  the  front  of  the  tank.)

 Dear  Nilesh
This  vinyle  papers  are  also  called  flex  is  self  adhesive  .  You  can  pest  it  in  outer  side  of  the  tank  glasses.  I  used  it  in  my  4  ft.  cichlid  tank  3  years  back  and  still  it  working,  No  complain.
 Regards
 Kaushik
