 Hi  Tirtha,

My  dosing  schedule  till  2nd  Aug  was  KNO3  2.5  -  3  ppm  daily  &  Ferro  +  Flora  from  PRODAC  weekly  90  ml  each.

The  new  leaves  started  to  be  pale  green

 Since  then  it  is

 KNO3  Â   Â   Â 2.5  ppm  /day
 K2SO4  Â   Â 6.0  ppm  twice  a  week
 KH2PO4  Â 0.4  ppm  four  times  a  week
 Microsol  B  1.5  ml/day  from  1  tbsp  in  1  lit

Will  keep  all  informed  about  how  the  plants  progress
 Regards
 Maninder

 Thanks  Tabby,

For  me,  planting  was  the  easy  part  as  mentioned  in  my  first  post  !!!

The  actual  planting  was  done  by  an  an  "old"  IAHian  -  DJ_Rocky.  So  the  credit  goes  to  him.

I  have  been  only  maintaining  the  tank  -  adjusting  the  dosing  after  studying  the  replies  by  the  Gurus,  the  cleaning,  the  water  changes  and  last  but  not  the  least  giving  the  plants  a  haircut  i.e.  trimming  them.

When  I  tried  to  replant  the  cuttings  I  couldn't  get   a  single  plant  to  stay  in  the  substrate   Shocked     -  they  all  floated  up   Crying or Very sad

After  getting  some  instructions  over  the  phone  from  DJ_Rocky  I  used  the  last  week's  trimming  to  practice  planting  in  a  bucket  containing  sand  and  water  !!!!  Success  at  last   Cheering   I  will  be  able  to  use  the  cuttings  from  the  next  trimming  which  should  be  again  be  Sunday  !!  This  haircut,  it  seems,  will  become  a  weekly  requirement  but  this  fast  growth  is  more  welcome  than  an  algae  attack.

 Regards
 Maninder

 Hi,

Apart  from  the  curling,  how's  your  tank  doing  now  ?  Could  you  post  some  recent  pictures  ?

 Hi  Ayusnaus,
The  aquarium  seems  to  be  doing  well.
I  trimed  the  plants  on  10th  Aug  (the  third  time).  After  following  the  dosing  suggested  by  fellow  members  the  plants  are  recovering  fast.  They  are  no  longer  white  and  even  the  curling  has  reduced  appreciably.  This  is  the  latest  photo  :

 Regards
 Maninder

 Hi  Seetharam,
Thank  you  for  the  encouragement.  Being  new  to  planted  tanks  I  need  it  all!  Including  the  constructive  criticism.

The  tank  keeps  hicuping.  I  had  noticed  holes  in  leaves  and  eaten  fresh  leaves.  Suspected  it  is  the  2  small  plecos  I  had  put  in.  Then  today  watching  the  tank  I  noticed  one  of  the  angels  nibbling  at  the  leaves  !  I  did  not  know  that  angels  also  like  their  greens   Very Happy  .  Any  way  the  prime  purpose,  as  you  said,  is  keeping  the  fish  happy  and  they  are  welcome  to  their  snacks.  Only  hope  they  don't  make  a  meal  of  the  plants.  Or  is  it  I  am  not  feeding  them  sufficient  ?

 Regards
 Maninder

Maninder,  up  your  KNO3  and  KH2PO4  dosage  slightly  and  watch  for  2-3  weeks.  Plant  growth  should  increase  more.

You  have  a  number  of  Amazon  swords  in  the  tank,  Echinodorus  will  adapt  and  start  to  take  off  sometime  now,  grab  all  the  nutrients  and  the  stems  will  suffer.

If  you  fall  short  of  nutrients  when  the  Ech  explode,  then  getting  the  stems  going  again  will  be  difficult.  You'll  also  need  to  keep  an  eye  on  micro  dosing.

 Helo  all

Being  a  new  comer  to  calcutta  and  intrested  in  cultivating  my  this  new  hobby  i  personally  met  rocky  in  his  shop  which  is  literally  in  interiors  and  small  lane  of  howrah  .  Dont  have  words  to  describe  the  place  and  made  a  mindset  that  this  guy  woud  not  have   much  of  things  or  knowledebut  after  meeting  him  in  his  office  for  halfhour  was  enough  to  learn  that  he  is  one  of  the  knowledgeble  and  intresting  person  to  be  with  if  one  intends  to  seriously  cultivate  this  habit  of  being  a  hobbyist.

Anyhow  your  pics  were  really  cool  and  wish  i  could  also  one  day  afford  to  go  in  for  such  a  nice  setup

Take  care  and  congrats  to  both  of  u  guys.0....................AADIL

 Hi  Madan,
Before  we  get  into  technicalities  permit  me  to  use  this  reply  to  thank  Hyat,  Ayusnaus,  IRock  and  AADIL  for  their  words  of  encouragement.

Regarding  the  increase  in  the  dosing,  the  present  and  proposed  after  your  suggestion  is  as  under

  ppm  per  week
  Past/ Now
 KNO3 17.5/ 21
 K2SO4 12/ 24
 KH2PO4 1.6/ 2.1
 Water  vol      100  gal

 Microsol  B:
 Past 1.5ml/day  of  1  tbsp/lit
 Now                 2ml/day  of  1.5  tbsp/lit

I  also  do  a  50%  water  change  every  Sunday
Would  it  be  oK  if  I  continue  with  the  proposed  schedule  for  a  couple  of  weeks  ?
 Regards
 Maninder

Very  Nice  Growth  You  got  there.  Tank  is  looking  superb.  A  small  sugession.  Either  keep  the  Foreground  Empty  or  fill  it  up  with  Echinodorus  Tenellus.  It  will  look  much  much  better.

 Wish  You  all  the  best.
