Looks  like  a  Blue  Badis,  a  better  picture  would  definitely  help.

Guess  a  time  to  update  the  fish  map  of  India  Very Happy  .

Hey  Faheem  post  the  pics  here  too   Thumb Up
do  let  us  know  what  all  you  have  caught  in  what  quantities.

Guess  whole  of  the  Hyderabadi[AHH]  gang  will  come  over  some  timesoon.
More  over  trip  to  Nalgonda   was  planned  a  year  back,  but  had  to  drop  as  we  dint  have  any  hands  on  experience, nor  many  people  of  that  sort.
So  thought  of  graduating  slowly  from  local  ponds/lakes.  Chuckle

Ask  your  cousine  to  preserve  the  Rice  fish[blue  eyed  fish]  in  a  other  tank  or  bucket.  They  may  be  hurt  by  some  cichlids  if  he  too  has.
 Good  luck!

Sorry  to  say  Saikumar, but  Oryzias  dancena  (The  Blue  eyed  fishes)  almost  all  of  them  got  eaten  by  Arowana  +  FH  and  few  of  them  eaten  by  Jewels(around  20).While  putting  these  goodies  in  my  aquarium  what  I  thought  is,they  are  too  fast  and  how  come  these  Jewels  will  kill  them?  with  that  thought  I  put  them  in  my  tank, but  all  of  them  got  eaten  by  Jewels. My  cusine  took  all  those  and  told  me  that  he  will  feed  Arowana  and  FH  and  I  thought, however  I  cannot  keep  them  let  him  do  what  ever  he  want.
But  all  3  BADIS  ae  still  alive  with  one  Loach, the  Prawns  also  got  eaten  by  thos  two  biggies(Arowana+FH).
Few  pics(PLZ  dont  comment  on  the  clearity  of  the  pics)  :

 What  I  caught,an  approx  count  :
 BADIS  :  3
 Loach  :  1
 Danios  :  15-20
 Oryzias  dancena(The  Blue  eyed  fish)  :  90-100
 Prawns(very  small,almost  2"  in  size)  :  2

This  is  Badis  badis.  Very  interesting  find.

Next  time  around  when  you  visit  the  place,  share  the  pics  of  the  Badis  biotope  too.

Looks  like  the  distribution  map  needs  to  be  updated.

If  I  recall  right,  someone  from  Ooty  had  also  posted  that  they  had  caught  Badis  in  the  Bhavani  river.

 Cheers,
