sorry  for  the  pain,it  seems  to  be  stomach  prob.treat  seperatly  with  metrogly  200  mg  i  tab  for  20  lts.

early  treatment  is  always  best  thing.if  that  discuss  not  eating  from  more  than  one  week,it  is  imposible  to  save  that.it  ll  die  after  20  days  or  one  month.it  wont  touch  any  food  particle  untill  it  dies.

 Dear  Arvind  ,

Kindly  let  us  know  about  yourself  and  your  set  up  -  short  introduction  will  help  us  to  understand  you  and  your  fishes  .
What  are  the  size  of  these  14  discus  .
If  your  Discus  is  not  eating  ,  you  need  to  take  the  below  action

 1)  Have  you  made  any  change  in  surroundings  ,  change  in  lighting  arrangements  Â   ,  filters  ,  added  new  fishes  etc  ,  etc  .  Some  times  due  to  stress  also  they  stop  eating  .  so  first  you  need  to  remove  the  stress  factor  .
 2)  Then  you  need  Â to  De-Flagellate  them  as  below

Maintain  the  Water  Temp  to  31  deg  C  .
 Add  Metronidazole  @  1.2  gm  (  1200  MG  )  for  100  ltrs  of  water  .
First  you  disolve  the  metro  in  warm  water  and  then  put  the  solution  in  the  water.
After  8  -  10  hrs  Do  WC  50%  and  redose  the  Metro  again  as  above  .
Continue  the  treatment  for  atleast  3  days  or  till  your  discus  start  eating  .
It  is  also  advisible  to  add  Metro  in  BH  and  feed  ,  it  will  be  more  effective  dosage  1.2  gm  for  100  gm  of  BH  .

If  your  discus  had  become  very  thin  and  had  stoped  eating  for  many  days  there  may  be  some  other  problem  with  your  discus  .  Is  this  discus  smaller  with  compare  to  other  discus  ?

 Regards

@prats,  The  Power  head  that's  in  the  tank  has  adjustment  to  reduce  the  flow.  The  is  absolutely  very  less  current.  Many  a  times  the  discus  are  right  infront  of  the  outlet.

@moonwalker,  is  this  tab  for  deworming,  if  so  can  i  do  this  for  all  the  discus  in  the  aquarium.

@Ranjit  and  IRock,  this  tank  is  a  46G  and  discus  10nos  2.5"  and  4  3-3.5".  Do  you  think  it's  over  crowded.

Please  advice  and  thank  you  all  for  you  quick  responses

 hello  alpine,

i  had  the  same  problem-  and  Shiva  helped  me  out,  but  unfortunately,  he  was  late  that  time.  You  are  lucky  that  he  is  here.  Do  exactly  as  he  has  guided.  I  had  12  discus  and  suddely  they  all  stopped  eating.  I  lost  5  fishes.  I  was  able  to  save  only  1.  How?  lot  of  hard  work.  but  I  had  to  isolate  the  whole  lot  first  into  a  seperate  tank.

 I  found  out

 1.  First  and  foremost  WATER  WAS  BAD  Sick,  This  reason  will  always  be  a  standard  reason  for  us  Mumbaites.  There  is  too  much  chlorine  in  it.  Follow  the  water  ageing  method,  and  boil  the  water  and  store  for  atleast  24hrs.  I  know  its  difficult,  but  "for  the  hobby,  please  do  it"

 2.  The  fishes  were  genetically  not  proper.  There  is  not  enough  remedy  for  this  reason.

In  General  Now:  (Admin-Check  BS  meter  please)
 ______________________________________________

Shiva  you  are  pro,  there  is  no  doubt  about  it,   BUT!  it  would  be  very  professional  if  you  dont  add  the  words  "ETC  ETC  ETC",  please...  (  because  its  confusing  me  always,  because  I  keep  searching  "what  more  is  wrong..."  Confused)

When  I  read   "AN  ADVISE"  lot  of  measurements  are  given,  like  for  example  "150gms/liter"  or  "30%  into  4gms  or  5gms",  now  these  are  very  difficult  to  follow  for  a  new  guy  like  me.  I  dont  have  a  weighing  scale  at  home....

When  I  read  "AN  ADVISE"  please  also  guide  me  where  to  get  "medicines  from",  and  what  if  we  dont  have  that  brand?  any  alternative?

When  I  give  my  setup  specifications,  I  must  "NOT  FORGET  TO  WRITE  THAT,  "I  SHOULD  ALSO  HAVE  A  HEATING  ROD",

Come  guys,  "a  good  advise  is  always  appreciated,  but  a  bad  one  will  costs  lives  Sad  "

@Shiva  thank  you  for  the  advise.
 Discus  Tank  Details:

 BB  tank
 Tank  Dimensions  :  30"  L,  24"  H,  15"  D.
Filter  :  Sponge  and  Powerhead  with  Sponge  container(  The  powerhead  is  set  to  bare  minimum,  very  less  current)
WC  :  40%  every  alternate  day
 Temp  :  30  average
 Inmates  :  14  discus,  10nos  2.5",  4nos  3-3.5".
 Ph  :  7.4
 TDS  :  270
 Lighting  :  2ft  T8  Hitachi  tubes
 Heater  :  Rena

The  discus  that  is  not  eating  is  around  2.5",  the  other  tank  mates  are  fine  and  eating  well.  Also  the  other  thing  i've  noticed  lately  is  that  the  food  is  not  eaten  soon  by  the  fishes.  The  surrounding's  and  the  lighting  has  not  been  changed.

 Thanks  Gorathmaan  for  the  reply.

I'am  adding  another  picture  with  few  other  inmates  for  size  comparison,  the  one  i'am  talking  about  is  on  the  top  in  the  center.  Forget  about  the  tiny  guy,  he's  not  in  the  tank  anymore.

 Arvind

 Dear  Arvind
Why  not  you  separate  the   stressed  Discuss  baby  in  a  hospital  tank  start  treating  with  Metronidazole  as  suggested  by  Shiva  Nair.  Believe  me  it  will  certainly  work.
 Regards
 Kaushik

Deworming  &  De-  Flagellate  are  two  different  subject  .

You  need  to  do  De-Flagellate  more  in  Discus  especially  for  young  Discus  .  We  use  Metronidazole  for  De-  Flagellate  the  discus  .  Metro  is  very  effective  for  Flagellates  ,  when  used  correctly  .

 Thanks

Sir  Shiva  could  you  also  kindly  give  the  correct  procedure  for  de-worming  as  well  ?
Also  can  you  mention  what  is  the  difference  between  de-worming  and  de-flagellation  ?
is  the  procedure  for  de-worming  similar  to  this  one  ?
Also  can  i  use  flagyll  250  ?  i  believe  it  is  a  metronidizole  tab.
im  sorry  for  all  the  questions  sir
thank  you  again  sir  shiva  Smile

im  sure  this  will  help  every  young  discus  keeper.
