Hello Everyone,
I will upload the images tonight so that Beta can start working on the article on our trip and also on The Hunt for E. canarensis.
|
Sathi's wishes before we departed - "Happy Fish Seeking" leads to to name the article " Seeking the E. canarensis ".
Does it sound good? |

These were the juveniles I got 2 years back:

Somehow they seem a little different from the ones we spotted in this trip.
The juveniles that we caught had a small circle on the end of the dorsal fin. |

We brought back very few E. canarensis, about 40 juveniles if I am not mistaken. That too only those who had tanks ready to house the fish took them.
Ravi, Madhu, Trevor, Nag and maybe a couple of others.
This trip was more about gaining knowledge about the fish and it's habitat than bringing them back in numbers. |

The larger 2 1/2 inch specimen we have Beta does not have the black dot at the rear tip of the dorsal. Probably an adaptation when they are juvenile against predators? |

Beta your fish in the photographs have the black dot ringed with a yellow circle.
Look closely.... also check Siddharth's photograph in this thread you can see the characteristic though it is dull and faint. |

Thanks Jenny, it was a lovely energy boosting cake.
Everyone loved it and I overheard Beta and Adeep squeaking in delight with every bite. |

Jenny, one of cake (mostly the one your mom baked...) was superb!
Well, I also tasted the Chocolate Pudding...
Many thanks,
Thanks to Ravi too for the delicious Cookies, else we'd collapsed on our way (as we travelled without lunch)... |
