 Chuckle

Well,  having  read  the  article  regarding  B'lore  hobbyist's  I  was  off  to  the  government  aquarium  to  become  a  member  the  next  sunday.

I  became  a  member  of  ASK  thanks  to  Mr  Shantha  Manohar.  A  senior  hobbyist  himself  his  interests  were  mainly  in  live  bearers  and  natural  planted  aquariums.  For  the  next  three  Sundays  I  and  Mr  Manohar  had  discussions  and  he  very  helpfully  imparted  me  wih  his  knowledge.  He  was  dead  against  adding  any  chemicals  to  the  aquarium.
See  how  important  the  influence  of  experienced  aquarist  is  in  our  formative  years  in  the  hobby,  even  today  I  am  averse  to  add  any  chemicals  to  my  aquarium.

Of  course,  by  then  the  Goldfishes  had  met  their  maker.  And  I  having  taken  a  shopping  bag  had  added  new  fishes  to  my  aquarium.  Check  out  my  Eden  Garden.  Chuckle

New  year  2005-  year  of  the  Etroplus  canarensis

Adip  was  the  first  IAH'ian  I  met.  I  was  in  awe.  Here  was  a  person  who  had  featured  in  aquarticles.  But  he  soon  put  me  at  ease  and  we  started  discussing  regarding  fishes.

Since  I  had  started  my  hobby  I  had  heard  and  seen  pictures  of  a  plant  called  Java  fern  and  a  moss  called  java  moss.  As  long  as  I  could  remember  I  had  tried  to  get  it,  First  in  Mangalore  and  then  in  Bangalore.  Either  the  LFS  person  would  refuse  to  part  wit  it  or  he  would  quote  a  exorbitant  price.

When  discussing  with  Adip  I  told  him  about  it.  He  simply  said  is  that  all  and  we  did  not  pursue  the  matter  any  more.

The  next  Sunday  during  ASK  Adip  came  to  me  and  handed  me  a  packet.  There  was  a  bunch  of  Java  fern  and  Java  moss  in  it.  He  simply  gave  it  to  me,  a  plant  for  which  I  had  searched  high  and  low.  This  was  my  first  experience  of  the  generosity  of  my  seniors  on  IAH  and  by  no  means  has  it  been  the  last.

It  was  also  a  time  of  silent  auctions  and  competitions  at  ASK.  I  met  Nag  during  the  silent  auction  in  the  first  Sunday  of  Feb-2005.  I  bid  and  got  6nos  Serpae  tetras  from  him.

After  two  years  of  having  them  I  gave  them  to  another  hobbyist.

 Regards,
 Nayak.

 Hey  Nayak,
Great  thread  you  have  started  here,  I  truly  takes  you  back  to  the  days  of  the  Horlicks  bottle.

I  am  more  impresed  by  the  head  of  hair  in  the  picture  than  the  planted  aquarium,  Very Happy  ,

Nayak  you  have  been  an  inspiration  to  a  lot  of  us  when  we  were  iniciated  to  IAH,  also  dont  forget  the  amount  of  stuff  you  have  bread  and  distributed  to  us  all.

Thank  you  Nayak  for  being  part  of  the  hobby.
