Hehe.  For  a  hobbyist  I  don’t  think  it  would  be  easy  or  cheap  to  export  Indian  fish  back  to  India  from  Denmark,  even  if  it  had  been  great  fun.

Now  I  have  the  breeding  group  in  one  of  my  tanks  in  Norway.  Then  I  have  9  of  the  6  cm  kids  to  go  to  another  aquarist  in  Norway  this  week.  And  there  are  50  more  in  one  tank  in  Denmark.
We  hope  to  get  them  spread  out  around  here  to  get  more  people  to  get  the  opportunity  to  breed  them.
Of  cause  we  will  also  need  to  get  other  EC’s  inn  to  avoid  inbreed.
But  first  of  all  it  will  be  a  challenge  to  make  it  over  again  with  my  main  group.  I  don’t  believe  many  others  will  manage  breeding  from  these  kids.
I  believe  one  important  detail  is  to  give  them  enough  space,  and  keep  very  calm  environment  with  little  disturbance.  And  not  too  many  invest  in  that.  Water  values  will  come  later,  as  I  will  recall  with  Peter.

We  got  11  of  these  youngsters  at  work,  thanks  to  Josti.  I  had  to  take  home  five  of  them,  and  they  are  now  checking  out  their  new  home  in  my  375l  tank.  I  will  probly  take  the  other  six  as  well,  kind  of  feel  bad  for  splitting  them...   Sad

They  are  truly  beautifull  and  I  have  no  regrets  for  taking  them  home.

 Very  good  Awzen.
I  think  you  should  take  all  of  them  if  you  can.  I  think  the  most  difficult  part  with  them  is  for  them  to  find  out  who  fits  together  as  pair/  group.
My  original  group  is  now  one  male  and  four  females.  The  group  started  bigger,  but  some  were  fighting  each  other  out.  If  they  do,  take  out  the  threatened  ones  or  they  will  probably  die  off.
But  yours  are  F1's  and  should  in  my  opinion  have  better  chance  and  possibilities  than  the  wild  ones.
9  more  are  leaving  for  Kongsberg  tomorrow.
Nice  communicating  via  India.  This  is  an  interesting  forum.

Are  there  any  canarensis  for  sale  in  India  from  time  to  time?
What  is  an  estimated  price  tag  for  them.
In  GBP.  USD  or  EUR  please.

 Dear  Shankar
What's  the  way  to  get  this  elusive  fishes  in  India.  I  asked  in  Kollathur  but  the  reply  is  negative.  Any  hobbyist  or  breeder  for  a  half  dozen  fry’s.  Please  help.
 Regards
 Kaushik

You  may  have  to  wait  till  someone  breeds  them  again.

So,  no  one  breed  them  in  India  and  the  wild  caught  are  exported.
 This  is  definitely  no  good.

Josti,  our  master  blaster  has  achieved  it,  fair  enough  for  the  eligible  hobbyists.

No  not  at  all  our  administrator  and  great  fishi  lover  Beta  had  a  moderate  success  in  breeding  them.Perhaps   it  is  not  avilable  right  now,  otherwise  Shankar  would  have  been  informed  me.

Yes!  I  have  distributed  around  30  juveniles  earlier  this  year.
I  should  have  more  of  them  around  February  next  year.  Challenge  is  keeping  them  well  fed  as  I  don't  have  the  time  to  baby  sit  the  fry.

Josti:  How  old  were  your  fishes  when  they  spawned?  Have  you  been  able  to  raise  the  fry  with  the  parents?
I  have  always  had  to  rely  on  artificially  hatching  the  eggs  as  they  were  preyed  on  by  the  other  canarensis.
When  I  seperated  out  a  pair  they  laid  eggs  but  the  eggs  disappeared  on  the  third  day  and  never  bred  after  that.  There  is  no  pair  bonding  outside  the  breeding  time.

Beta,  I  think  a  harmless  dither  should  help  the  pair.  Also  apply  for  a  sick  leave  and  keep  feeding  the  pair  in  regular  intervals.   Thumb Up
