Criticism what criticism , It part of mine daily life .Also I told mine mom that i got Co2 cylinder from LFS,fishes from mine friends, tank from another friend absolutely free and her reaction was how come everybody are donating things to you .Have to teach mine LFS ,friends that whenever you are coming to mine place remember to say that these things are donated by you.SO inspite of all these free stuffs I am hearing the music , How would mine mom react when she would come to know that how much I had spend in this hobby.
"MACHLIMAAR" reminds me.. recently my colleagues are calling me "MACHLI BABA".. Grrrrr

Well i was resisting to post on this topic !! ..but i guess its just irresistible.
Starting with a 1ft tank with my bro about 13yrs ago my mom and dad were like these kids are going crazzy. Guess what was that 1ft tank... A Marine Setup! It had one Peice of Live rock, 1 Power filter, Some coral sand and 2 clowns.
Guess that did not last too long and due to i would say lack of knowledge of what size that tank should be and the LFS as usual giving us all the ball talk we lost both clowns and my best buddies then. My mom and dad blasted both of us to glory coming from a Gujju Jain family you know how deaths of living beings in the house are treated....
Things fortunately did not end there ...from there we moved on to 4ft and then to a 6ft tank. All in all it was completely marine and my bro went on to be a marine biologist and researcher working for the Public Aquaria in California. I then moved to Delhi and got my first 4 ft tank there. Again a Marine ! Well then dooms day came again ..i got married !! ..and my wife went chu cha chu cha !! ..and i said wutevah !! ..that was in my house before you were and then that was it... hell broke loose and fights became inevitable. So much So that every time i did a water change she walked out shopping !! Not that i really was worried off it. But trust me the credit card bills on those days were hughe! ... again all for the love of the hobby !!
From the Marine , I then got hooked on to IAH and other forrums so i started spending a lot of my time responding to queries and sharing experiences and then that became another vice. The Wifie went first it was the fish and now its writing about the fish !! ...so all in all i gave her no time ! ..so one day i said enough is enough and we had a show down !! ...post that as always ..the wifie won !! we came to an agreement i would work on the tanks the days she was in office and not at home and when we both were home i would spend time with her !! .. no no i did not loose the battle, i only gave way to that cause i struck a deal that i could add another tank into the house !! ... there it was i put up my first freshwater tank..that too a planted. Thanks to all the help from Venket, Deepakbrid, mayur, etc ! who shared their inputs and products and supplies with me. So now i had become a farmer !! ...slowly i struck another deal i took the room next to where i lived and told my wifie i would move all my tanks there !! ..she was more than glad to say ..let the tanks go outta the house !! ... so i struck a deal again !! ..i said i will get a 8 feet marine tank there along with the fish room !! .... so now my current 4 feet tank turns into a Planted !! ... i have another 4 feet which was my old tank that turns into a gold fish tank !! and i have a whole new room thats under construction for a 8 footer reef and a fish room !! so all in all !! you know who won the battle !! but i dont deny i got my ass kicked a lot !

Though totally against my hobby, my dad used to feed the dry fish food to my fishes when I used to skip the diet due to my cricket matches (he brought the food by himself ).
Spouse: " Its just a waste of money, you can give me those money for shopping instead."
Though critical, she always help me for water changes whenever required until today.
Daughter: " Dad, I'm really scared of this arowana, it may bite me one day. Bring one small FH for me instead"
Truly appreciate her feelings. Though 4yr old, she really enjoys feeding pellets to my 14"oscar.

Parents- You are still continuing . Advise to my wife Don't come between them.
Wife-You give more importance than any other else.

Daughter-It's papas examination time (Daily 7 AM to 7.30 AM)So don't disturb him.
Neighbor -Always busy in carrying Glasses,Buckets,plastic bags, nets

Students-Zoology and Geography is not our cup of tea , So please forgive us. Sir you are the Earth Saver and we are the destroyer.
Anyhow my feelings are -that we the eccentric people doing a little bit to save the animal rights.

Hello Friends,
Abhis9 here. I am lucky because i am still a bachelor.
But locally I am known as "Mr. Mach (Fish-in Bengali).
Since 1978 this is my favorite hobby. My Father presented me a 24"x12"x12" tank. From this tank I kept adding to my current number of increase up to 11 tanks & other accessories.
Perhaps you are thinking how?
Yes those days I did a lot of things Like Breeding & Selling Fish, Selling small Amazon plants (I had two big Amazon sword) and other plants like Cabomba etc...I alos undertook projects like setting up aquariums in other houses (This one I have done for more than 200 places- some of them are still going strong) and earned some money.
My father is also very interested about my Fish Keeping till today. He loves my Discus Tanks and he has asked for a CD with the pictures which I will also post in this forum. My mother also likes it.
So from my home no problem...But what I lost those days is time for education. I was so addicted tot my hobby, my education was effected.
Anyway I have been working as an IT Professional for the last 20 yrs. Due to official work I have to travel abroad a lot of times and on these trips whenever I have time I always look for Aquarium shops and also I by a lot of things like Food, Medicine, Thermostat, Corals etc.
