I  saw  2  juveniles  of  albino-type  at  Lakshman  9845766291  -  Bilekhalli,  Bannergatta  road  -  this  week,  cross  check  if  he  still  has  them.

 Cheers!

 Ravindran

What  a  coincidence  ,  I  saw  the  giant  Gourami  at  cosy  in  koramangala  a  couple  of  days  ago  .  They  were  not  red  tailed  though  !

The  photograph  of  the  fish  posted  above  (Nautilus)  does  not  look  like  the  Giant  Red  Tail  Gourami.  It  looks  more  like  the  Osphronemus  gouramy  -  The  normal  giant  gourami  -   An  albino  version.
Members  with  better  eyesight  and  no  color  blindness  please  assist.

Here  above  is  a  pic  of  a  Giant  Gourami  -  an  Albino   Smile  ?  Please  identify.

The  Great  grand  father  of  the  hobby  in  Bangalore...  Mr.  Thomas  had  the  albino  Gouramies  almost  2.5  ft  in  length.  Jennifer  and  Nilofer  were  their   name.

Dont  know  if  he  has  them  still  as  he  was  keen  on  selling  them  as  it  was  difficult  for  him  to  care  for  these  fish  in  his  old  age.

One  kg  of  tomato  was  required  as  feed  for  them  every  single  day.......just  imagine  Shocked   Shocked   Shocked

If  your  interested  in  knowing  if  this  fish  is  still  available  and  your  sure  to  keep  aside  1kg  of  tomoato  everyday  for  them  then  you  could  call  Madhu  on  9945776000  and  request  him  to  check  with  Mr.  Thomas.

 Hi  Ravindran,

I  have  a  friend  who  keeps  these.  But  they  are  pretty  aggressive  i  must  say.  Very  nice  fish  he  has  them  at  about  12"   at  the  moment.  The  water  they  are  in  at  is  about  Ph  3.5  which  is  really  low  but  the  generally  do  well  in  neutral  water.

 Regards

Aren't  these  fishes  mostly  kept  in  ponds  because  of  their  huge  sizes?  Heard  they  become  very  tame  and  can  be  hand  fed.

 Regards,
 Nayak.

I  saw  a  couple  of  them  at  Raj's  Place  (ASK)  in  his  pond....Ajay(Channidae)  used  to  keep  them  until  some  time  back.

They  are  quite  often  seen  on  sale(Not  the  red  Tailed  ones)...at  both  Karthick's  and  Lakshman's  LFS

The  aquarium  at  Inorbit  Mall,  Malad,  Mumbai  has  the  most  amazing  giant  Gourami  i  have  seen  till  date.  Its  pearl  white  in  color  and  a  massive  2  feet  in  size  at  least.

 hi,
a  week  ago  Nautilus  had  at  least  half  a  dozen  red  tail  giants  size  5"-6"  but  surprisingly  they  weren't  for  sale.  the  aquarium  at  inorbit,  as  deejay  rightly  said,  houses  the  biggest  albino  giant  i've  ever  seen,  its  definitely  more  than  2.5  feet.  i  have  a  12"  albino  and  after  a  hole  in  the  head  scare,  its's  strictly  on  a  peas  and  spinach  diet  (which  it  loves).  these  suckers  grow  fast  and  i  mean  REALLY  FAST.  he's  outgrown  his  tank  in  less  then  six  months.  He's  hardy,  vegetarian  and  so  aggressive,  he  makes  flowerhorns  (and  other  aggressive  cichlids)  look  like  guppies.

 regards  Sid.
