Have  any  one  used  Akadama  Soil  as  substrate.  Here  is  one  Link.

Akadama  is  normally  used  in  Japan  for  Bonsai,  but  could  be  a  good  option  for  us  also  Very Happy  .

I  do  not  know  if  this  is  available  in  India  or  not.

 Regards

I  have  read  thru  other  forums  that  Akadama  is  being  used  as  a  substrate  and  good  results  have  been  obtained.

Did  you  manage  to  get  hold  of  some  or  are  you  looking  to  buy  some?

 Hi  Rana

Went  thru  the  link  very  interesting....but  also  looks  like  it  talks  about  products  that  are  not  avilable  here,  especially  the  Spagum  Peat  moss.  You  can  ask  some  one  in  the  US  to  get  this  for  you.  As  for  Akadama  I  am  sure  if  you  really  hunt  you  might  be  able  to  get  an  equivalent  product.  Of  course  this  will  be  dicy  to  use.

All  the  Best  with  sourcing  it  out,  will  let  you  know  if  I  am  able  to  find  something  in  this  line.  Keep  us  posted.

I  am  game  for  the  experiment,  planning  for  a  2x1x1  planted  tank.  This  will  replace  my  existing  badis  badis  tank.

 Prem

Nope,  I  did  not  get  any.  But  definitely  I  am  looking  forward  to  put  my  hand  on  some.  Some  big  horticulture  or  any  shop  with  spealisation  in  Bonsai  might  help.  But  I  wonder   Rolling Eyes  what  moves  you  away  from  ADA.  Are  you  getting  bored?

One  interesting  point  to  note  that  Akadama  soil  also  reduces  the  pH  drastically.

Would  like   to  know  the  experiment  and  the  experimenter   Chuckle  .  Alas  Chennai  is  too  far  from  my  home  town  to  participate.   Very Happy  .

 Regards
