 Any  one  find  any  alternative  to  this  dubious  Microsol  B  ?

 I  have  mixed  some  newer  (read  'Green  Colored  Saw  Dust'   )  Microsol  B  with  the  older  original  Microsol  B  made  by  BASF  and  "only"  packaged  by  Vardhaman.  Sad

 Another  product  From  Vardhaman  only.

 Fetrilion-Combi  2

 Iron  4%
 Zinc  4%
 Manganese  3%
 Copper  0.5%
 Boron  1.5%
 Molybdenum  0.05%
 Magnesium  2%
 Sulphur  2.8%

 Fetrilon-13%

 13%  Chelated  Iron

 Still  they  have  little  bit  quality  left  with  these  products.  Using  them  in  my  tanks  and  results  are  good.

 Vardhaman  who  ?

 Uttam  got  their  products  tested  at  GE  labs.

 Result  -

 NO  Fe  in  the  mixture  at  all  chelated  or  unchelated,  Even  after  thoroughly  mixing  the  contents  of  the  pack  and  dissolving  25%  in  300  ml  water.

 All  other  micronutrients  are  in  very  very  low  proportions,  compared  to  what  is  on  the  label.

 This  in  a  pack  manufactured  in  Aug  2008  and  Tested  Nov  2008.

 An  older  sample  manufactured  in  2005  ended  up  with  the  same  result.

 I  had  got  my  original  sample  tested  many  years  ago,  and  found  it  pretty  good.

 Vardhaman  admit  that  the  Fe  chelation  gets  destroyed  within  6  months  of  packaging  even  in  powder  form  due  to  some  manufacturing  process.  All  this  from  the  mouth  of  a  Vardhman  representative,  at   Vardhaman  office.

 Bad  enough  for  me  to  switch  brands.

 I  am  Looking  for  an  alternative.

 Then  really  I  doubt  if  there  is  any  alternative  from  agriculture  grade  Ferts.  We  need  to  switch  to  Branded  Trace  Mix  like  Seachem  Trace.   Sad

 there  is  a  micro  nutrient  mix  called  CSM+B  sold  online  on  the  below  mentioned  link.
 http://www.aquariumfertilizer.com/

   have  read  some  very  good  reviews  on  the  net  especially  on  Tom  barr's  site

 would  appreciate  all  you  experts  to  also  give  your  inputs,  have  checked  with  their  sales  team  and  they  are  willing  to  deliver  to  india  Smile

 CSM+B  was  the  original  mix  used  for  making  PMDD  more  than  a  decade  ago.  Sears  and  Conlin  wrote  their  now  famous  paper  using  this  mix.

 Any  chelated  mix  with  the  same  /  close  to  same  micro  nutrient  %ages  is  good  enough.

 Multimol  will  not  do,  the  composition  is  way  off  with  too  little  Fe.

       *  Fe  -  2.50
       *  Cu  -  1.00
       *  Mn  -  1.00
       *  Mo  -  0.10
       *  Zn   -  3.00
       *  B     -   0.50

 You  need:  As  per  the  original  CSM  mix

 7%  Fe
 1.3%  B
 2%  Mn
 0.06%  Mo
 0.4%  Zn
 0.1%  Cu
 EDTA

 The  Calculations  don't  work  out  for  me.
 Anything  close  to  the  original  CSM  mix  which  can  be  adjusted  a  bit  should  be  ok.  The  plants  might  Okay  it  however.  Smile

 Ferrous  sulphate  will  oxidise  very  quickly  in  aquarium  water  and  Fe  will  not  be  available  for  plants,  the  same  with  Ferric  sulphate.

 That's  why  we  Chelate  iron  so  that  it  dosen't  bind  with  oxygen  and  "rust".

 If  we  have  results  showing  the  product  does  not  confirm  to  the  labeled  contents,  we  have  cause  of  legal  action  against  the  seller  offering  the  product  to  potential  buyers.
