Introduce  2  Ottos.  Those  are  not  GSA.  Common  in  newly  setup  tank.

Not  sure  about  the  first  one  though.

 Algae  Break  out.

 Tank  Specs.
 Capacity  -  3  Gallon
 Light  -  3  x  11  Watts  PLL  on  Timer.
 Substrate  -  ADA  amazonia  II.
CO2  -  DIY  with  ceramic  glass  diffusor  and  Flourish  Excel
 Photo  Period  -  8  hours
 Filter  -  Atman  HOB
Water  Changes  -  Wednesdays  and  Sundays
Fish  -  6  Neon  Tetras  of  1  inch.
 Plants  -  Glossostigma,  Hair  Grass

There  is  an  algae  break  out  in  the  tank  which  looks  really  ugly.
 1)  The  appearance  is  green  in  color  and  has  formed  a  layer  on  substrate,  rocks  and  plants  and  looks  like  dust  have  settled  down  on  them.   Need  ID

 2)  Other  algae  is  on  plants.  Green  in  colour.  On  some  leaves  its  long  upto  0.5  inch  and  at  some  its  just  on  the  surface  of  the  leaves.  Seems  like  Hair  or  thred  algae  or  mixture  of  both.  Need  ID

 3)  Green  Dust  Algae  on  glass.
Have  tried  to  ID  the  above  algae  by  searching  on  net  but  appearances  are  confusing  me  more.

3  weeks  back  I  saw  Iron  deficiency  in  glosso.  The  new  leaves  were  pale.  So  i  started  dosing  the  tank  with  trace  with  water  changes  for  70%  every  alternate  day  as  the  tank  is  very  small  and  the  quantity  of  dosage  cannot  be  accuratly  measured.  The  health  of  plants  inproved  but  so  did  the  algae  and  the  algae  made  the  water  somewhat  stinky.
After  all  this  i  have  stopped  dosing  completely  and  installed  AC  in  the  filter  3  days  ago  to  get  rid  of  excess  nutrients.
I  have  removed  40%  of  my  affected  glosso  carpet  after  which  the  tank  has  stopped  stinking.

There  is  no  algae  on  equipments  i.e.  Filter  Inlet  and  CO2  diffusor.
Now,  the  glosso  growth  is  very  slow  almost  unnoticable  but  Hairgrass  has  covered  the  whole  back  right  corner  during  the  algae  phase.

Sorry  the  pic  is  not  available  is  my  camera  is  not  working.  Have  miss  placed  the  cord  which  i  need  to  re-install  the  camera's  software.

Need  help  to  solve  this  problem.

Keep  doing  50%  water  changes  daily,  and  siphon  out  the  algae.
It  will  take  a  couple  of  weeks  to  stabilise.  You  need  to  be  extra  careful  when  you  do  your  first  trimming  with  ADA  aquasoil.

Thanks  Mr.  Madan  for  you  fast  and  valuable  reply.
Just  a  few  quick  questions.  Should  I  continue  what  im  doing  right  now  like  Activated  Carbon,  dosing  etc?  Also  it  would  be  greatful  if  you  can  ID  the  possible  algae  for  me.

All  i  have  is  the  pic  taken  on  23/03/09

 Thanks  once  again.

 Finally  got  my  camera  working.

Here  is  the  algae  infected  tank.

Was  away  from  the  tank  since  had  gone  to  my  native.  Now  doing  daily  50%  water  change  and   no  dosing.

 Suggestions  please.

Scrape  off  the  algae  and  keep  up  with  the  waterchanges  daily  for  a  few  weeks.  Nothing  else  you  can  do.
Harshal  told  me  today  that  Bio-Rio  in  the  filter  helped  him  a  lot  .  Let  him  come  in  to  this  thread  and  elaborate.
Add  some  shrimps,  ramshorn  snalis  and  Ottos.

Filter  is  not  matured  yet.  The  same  problem  I  had  in  my  4  feeter  for  3  long  months.  Finally  after  7  days  black  out  and  after  adding  Biomech  in  Eheim  2217  helped  me  to  get  rid  of  this.  But  keep  changing  the  water.  Dose  only  based  on  plants  need.
