The  sunfish  could  be  a  P.fasciata  rather  than  a  P.marginata  and  yes  thats  a  stocky  armatus.
And  the  barb  doesn't  look  like  a  puntius  chola  though.   chola  looks  just  like  a  bimaculatus  without  the  spot  on  the  dorsal  fin.

Will  try  to  post  more  pictures  of  the  barb  as  soon  as  it  settles  down,  Madhu.  I  have  a  question  to  ask  the  experts.

The  leaf  fish  is  with  Gokul  and  he  says  the  fish  is  doing  fine  and  has  lost  all  its  stress  coloration.  Hope  he  can  post  some  pictures  soon.

The  book,  "Ornamental  fishes  of  the  Western  Ghats  of  India"  does  not  seem  to  describe  quite  a  few  of  the  fishes.  Am  I  correct?  It  has  no  information  regarding  Channa  gachua,  Channa  punctata  and  a  few  others.

I  also  have  doubts  regarding  Puntius  mahecola,  Puntius  filamentosus,  Puntius  chalakkudiensis,  Puntius  denisonii  for  which,  I  shall  start  a  separate  thread  and  ask  our  experts  for  answers.

The  "H.  fossilis"  is  a  Mystus  Doh   Wall Bang

 The  Pristolepis  is  P.  marginata.

 P.  chola  does  have  a  spot  on  the  dorsal.  You  need  more  coffee,  Madhu   Chuckle  .  The  fish  pictured  here  is  not  P.  chola,  IMO.

The  channa  does  not  show  the  bands  on  the  pectoral  fins  that  is  characteristic  of  gachua.  Who  took  it  home?  Send  it  to  me,  plz?

Hayath  has  the  Channa.  I  guess  he  will  post  more  pictures  soon.

The  barbels  on  the   catfish  had  me  worried  because  I  am  already  spooked  by  what  I  had  read  about  the  fossilis.  Gokul  has  it  and  maybe  he  can  post  more  pictures  for  a  proper  ID.

I  should  have  avoided  swimming  and  taken  pictures  of  the  fish  with  the  photo-tank.Doh  It  would  have  been  easier.  But  I  guess  the  water  was  too  inviting  and  my  son  frolicking  around  was  invitation  enough.     Dog

The  patterns  gone  now.  I  think  it  was  due  to  the  stress.  It  has  become  sorta  silvery  all  over.

 Superb  writeup  and  pics,  Hayath.

No  grudge  against  you  buddy,  stuff  like  this  happens.  Maybe  excited  on  what  it  could  have  been  (after  seeing  the  first  specimen).

Should  have  had  a  closer  look  at  the  Adipose  fin.  Would  have  been  a  give  away  then.

It  will  start  coloring  back  again  once  it  settles  in.  A  nice  monotone  shade.
Here's  how  mine  looked  at  3"

I  apparently  need  that  coffee  more  than  Madhu.  P.  chola  does  not  have  a  spot  on  the  dorsal,  as  Madhu  said  first  time  around.  I  was  thinking  of  P.  sophore.
